Landrum Kelly 64 Posted June 20, 2012 I just drove by the building this afternoon for the first time since I shot it. The color down the length of the building is a faded yellow. I suppose that the thirty-second exposure blew out the colors, combined with the lamp, especially near the middle of the very long building. The curious patterns in the windows are vertical cracks in the outer layer of the plywood that has been used to cover them. --Lannie Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted June 21, 2012 This is the most dramatic of the three shots and usually I lean towards understatement but not this time. I much prefer the more expansive perspective and that lone light nicely counters the darkness of the foliage on the right. A bit of the green of the grass comes through which is also nice. Landrum Kelly 64 Posted June 21, 2012 Thank you, Jack. I have to say that what I was most intrigued with was the way the sky looked with tropical weather coming up from the southeast. I'm not sure that I got it (it was dark, after all), but along the way I got something that was a bit out of the ordinary. I am delighted that you can appreciate it, too. --Lannie Link to comment
margaret1 0 Posted June 22, 2012 I love the lighting in this. The green is wonderful and the sky is surrealistic. Somehow you have made a mundane building flow. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted June 22, 2012 Chalk it up to a thirty-second exposure, Margaret. I had no idea what I would get. The building is a faded yellow during the daytime. The lamp at the left was surely also a big factor in getting this particular hue of green, but I do not remember the color of the light that came from that lamp. --Lannie Link to comment
alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted June 22, 2012 Does Homer Simson work here? :) Well done, Lannie. Even if it was a shot in the dark. We often know more than we think we do and it often shows. It does here. Cheers~Alberta Link to comment
JPPhoto1664880217 5 Posted June 23, 2012 This is truly surreal. Congratulations on an excellent image. Jim Phelps Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted June 24, 2012 Thanks, Alberta and Jim. It was a fun night to be shooting. The later it gets, the less likely one is to be harassed, I think. This one was shot well after 1 a.m. --Lannie Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 26, 2012 It is a nice series I like this pespective even though the strong bulb on the LHS is a competition, as th eye go's to that corner, I tried to hide that lamp and it is a very nice photo! Link to comment
