  1. My Canon EOS300D I have had for several years and has been very reliable. Last year the std EFS 18-55 lens became a 33-55 lens as the mechanism seems not to want go any further.

So I purchased a Canon 17-85, this felt heavy but gave a good overlap to my 75-300 lens. Problem was that this went wrong after about 12 months and was going to cost quite a bit to repair!

As I was soon going to Australia on holiday and needed something to replace it. So I widened my search to Tamron, I have had a Tamron before, to save weight and the hassle of changing lenses in the field I purchased an 18-200 Zoom lens.

I only had a short time to try the lens as we were moving house just before we left for OZ and all seemed well.

I had not taken many photos with this lens before I discover that there is a problem. After a few shots the camera jams and sometime give me a fault code of 99. Removing and replacing the lens fixes this. But it keeps happening and I presumed it was a camera fault.

When I got home I tried it with my working Canon lenses and all is fine.

So after discussing this with Amazon they sent me another lens, but this does the same!

Am I to presume this is a compatibility problem or is there a setting on the camera I have to change?

Sorry to ramble on but not sure which way to go with this.
