  1. The Photomic Finders screw up the Balance. My early Nikon F with a 28/3.5 and eye-level prism are perfectly balanced in the early fitted case.

I heavier lens balances the Photomic cameras in the case.

Ah. I have an eye level prism F on order. I'll have to try it on that when it arrives. Thanks.

  2. Short of time-travelling back to 1959 Japan and suggesting a re-design, what do you expect anyone can do about it now?

Personally, I'd suggest to the designer of the F that they try very quickly running 36 exposures through a prototype of the camera, and then re-assess the design of that serrated thumb-punisher of a leverwind.

It took until the F2 before Nikon got the ergonomics right.

Thanks Joe. I just wanted to make sure this was normal, that's all. :) Thanks for your response.

  3. Its normal.

The vintage F, F2, and Nikkormat cases are nice-looking and rugged, but not particularly ergonomic.

If your F body has one of the large Photomic meter prisms attached, it will be even more prone to inconvenient flopping around.

    ok, thanks. Good to know.

  4. On the Nikon F soft case, it does not seem to balance correctly when carried on the shoulder, it flips backwards. A little better when carried around the neck as the stomach supports it a little. Am I missing something, or is this the way they usually fit. The strap lugs on the case seem too far forward, causing the off balance. When a strap is connected to the body lugs it balances ok. I prefer to use the half case as it gives extra grip, but this balance issue is a pain. Any help greatly appreciated.
