  1. Keep photo.net a free, public site, but why not move photo.net accounts to a subscription-based service, with a fee for those who wish to set up an account. Wouldn't that cut down on the abusers, duplicate accounts, and number of hit-and-run artists? That way the ratings and comments system becomes more valuable, and can stay as is. With the money I spend on annual photo magazine subscriptions plus others I buy on the news stand, having the photo.net community is worth at least $10 to $20 a year to me.

p.s. Mark Meyer's suggestion of "Add this photo to your favorites" is a good one.

  2. Lincoln Park Zoo is on Chicago's North side and admission is free (parking is around $7). Within 1 hour drive you can get to the Botanic Gardens in Highland Park, or futher North and West you can get to Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve or Crabtree Nature Center, within 15 minutes of each other in Lake Zurich/Barrington area of Cook and Lake counties.
  3. For non-confusing, go with the ELAN 7. It has many of the same features as the EOS 3, except 92% viewfinder coverage (vs. 97%), no spot-meter, 1/2-stop increments (vs. 1/3). The viewfinder is less confusing, and built-in flash may be an advantage. OF course if you want to go really basic, but still flexible (i.e. it has manual mode) the Rebel 2000 is an excellent camera as well.
