1.
I just checked again, and as far as I can tell we can only add to or delete photos from our page of favorites. There doesn't appear to be any way to rearrange or organize them. That would be a handy feature for folks like you with diverse tastes and a more extensive list of favorites. I enjoyed visiting your favorites page - it's far more diverse than mine.

I tend to shuffle my favorites page around periodically and delete some photos as new ones come in and usually keep the page to fewer than 100 photos. And without consciously being aware of it, most of my favorites seem to be quirky candids and snapshots rather than carefully composed portraits or scenics.

That's what makes the favorites page so interesting - it's a way of communicating something about our preferences in the photographs made by others, which can often differ from our own styles.

Will someone please tell me how to DELETE Favorites? Also how to delete my entire Portfolio and start over fresh?

  2. I would not convert an old camera. For example, my converted Panasonic G1 is "mushy" a lot, and the G5, which I bought used, just for converting, produces a lot more crispness. You want to be very careful who you have do it but that price you list sounds like quite a bit more than we've paid. I have converted 3 myself and received 2 as gifts. My lastest, Fuji 100, converted really well. It is exciting to use. I'm going back to some places like Kauai and re-photographing some of the palm groves because the latest camera is so much better than earlier ones. I started out, by the way, shooting Kodak's legendary IR film for many years.
  3.
Since Silvershotz is mentioned here, I will add my vote that it is an excellent publication, good print quality. When I considered paying about $1,000 to be listed in Silvershotz Folios 2009 I searched everywhere to find photographers in previous Folios who could tell me if it was useful in terms of promotion; I only found 3 and only got one affirmative answer. A year after being published there, I can say that I have not been approached by any gallery or collector, curator, etc. as a direct result of publishing in Folios 2009. I hope this is useful to someone else considering it.

  4. I appreciate everyone's replies - this is very useful to me too.

I would recommend the following website for scanner art/scanography:

    http://www.scannography.org

I'm very happy with my old Epson Perfection 2450 Photo. I read on another forum where someone said a cheap Epson

was better than all the other brands, though I have no experience with others. I seem to get surprising depth of

field. You could interview the other artists at that website and see what they use, and it may turn out that a

cheap one from Ebay will be excellent.
