  1. Driving through Idaho and Montana this past weekend for a memorial service. We stopped at Yellowstone Bear World, kind of a tourist trap but the cubs were totally worth it. Z6 1/500 at f 5.6, ISO200, Tamron 70 - 210 at 210mmDSC_0142.thumb.JPG.5dec2ad6e43fe46cef5ea68514854597.JPG

On the drive back we stopped at Salmon Lake for this shot. Nikkor 24-70 at 24mm. 1/320, f 6.3 at ISO100_DSC0250.thumb.JPG.646858f4403d7a7b8975d7f727cbae0c.JPG

  2. I was able to get out a couple of weeks ago and find some of the juvenile Bald Eagles that are wintering at Willard Bay State Park in Utah.

  4. It's been a while but here are a couple of shots from the back patio of the full moon the other night and the mountains with a fresh dusting of snow (we really need more).

  5. They were at Willard Bay state park. Evidently right now they are everywhere at the bird refuges. In fact, you don't need to go far to see them, one flew overhead in my neighborhood on Sunday.

Ok, now I'm jealous. All I have flying over are F-35s. Hoping to get out to the refuge at Farmington this weekend

  6. My contribution is from September when my wife and I went to Montana to visit my mom. I don't think I will ever get tired of Glacier National Park and the views that it offers.

  7. It's been a while since I've had a chance to shoot and post, new house and work sometimes tend to get in the way. Driving home from work the other night the clouds were breaking from our latest snow storm and revealed a beautiful scene with the mountains reflecting a beautiful sunset. 8. I agree with Matt, non-photographic life, and snowy weather has kept me somewhat busy. But speaking of snowy weather, did go snowshoeing a couple of weeks ago. It's so amazing how blue and clear the sky is when you get above the pollution. D3400, 1/400 at f11.0, ISO 200; Nikkor 18-55 mm at 24mm.

While on the trail there was a lady with her sled and dogs that went flying by. Didn't really expect to see that in Utah. 1/500 at f11 and ISO 100. Nikkor 18-55 at 45mm

  9. Nice images, Tony.

I have been to Bryce once, in mid May, 1999. I believe that was the first day the facilities were open for that year. Bryce is at high elevation, over 8000 feet, up to 9100 feet/2778 meters. I am curious about how the conditions are like at Bryce in December, especially road conditions. I hope that they at least manage to plow the roads.

I have been to other national reserves recently, and all restrooms were closed due to the government shutdown.

They had the visitor center open, but no programs were going on because of the shutdown. The main road is open up to the parking lot of Sunrise and Sunset Point. Typically they do keep most of the roads plowed. Other than not getting to go on the full moon hike, it was a good trip.

  10. A couple of shots from Bryce Canyon National Park this past weekend. Was disappointed that as a result of the govt shutdown, all ranger led activities were cancelled. We were or should I say, I was really looking forward to their Full Moon Hike. But we still got to see some breathtaking scenery and got a few decent shots in the process. All taken with a D3400

  12. Having just gone through the process of selling a house, our agent had a photographer she works with and did a phenomenal job. That's a part of the agent's job and, at least in our case, it's all a part of the marketing strategy and thus comes out of the commission. Good luck on the house, and knowing what the market is like it should sell very quickly!

  13. Sorry I've been falling behind for a few weeks - health and work mean no pretty pictures. I had the excuse when my wife's family visited recently and we had unexpectedly clear weather.

Yeah, work has a way of getting in the way of getting good pictures. I have just started working a flexible schedule where I get every other Friday off, so that has been helping me get out more.

  14. Throwing in a couple of shots from this weekend at a star party at Antelope Island State Park. A bit too windy to really get some good shots as the camera was getting blown around. Did get some decent colors from sunset and a howling at the moon shot.

  17. When I was there, the bridge was closed for a few hours while some teenagers were hauled up from the river below by firemen - they'd ignored the "people hurt themselves jumping off the rocks" warning and one had done so; I'm told nothing life-threatening, fortunately. The others had got cold waiting and weren't up to travelling over multiple waterfalls to get out. These are the crowds waiting to cross when the bridge was reopened. (The broken tread on the bridge was caused by the rescue equipment.)

It always amazes me when people think that they can ignore the warnings and then act surprised when they get hurt. After I did my hike a couple of weeks ago to the Adams Canyon Falls, I mentioned to my boss that I had gone up there. He told me that when he was younger he and some friends had gone up there where one of his friends tried to climb up the falls, only to slip and not survive. Very sad.
