Super capture! I love the blues and greens. The firs frame the aurora nicely.
-
Just excellent. Wonderful detail, good lighting, and a great background. Nice job!
-
Ouch! The soft blue of the background provides an interesting contrast to the thorns.
-
A wonderful composition. You did a great job in capturing his interest and expression. Nice OOF background too.
-
A wonderful capture. BTW, love your Nature and Animal Pix gallery.

Hi CT,
She's a bit hot around the eyes and nose, but overall it's a very nice composition with good detail, and I like that green background.

Wow! An amazing capture, and one of the best images I've seen on PhotoNet!

I got a chuckle out of this one. Very original and well done. I love the contrast between the two legs/genders. I especially like how the main focus of the photo gets emphasized with color, yet you've totally avoided the use of the hokey "b&w with color" photo. The leathery sandals on the guy are a great touch!

Ripping off someone's work and calling it your own is a stupid thing to do.

Simply remove the numeric rating system and let those who want to critique do so with comments.

Nice capture. Have you considered a B&W? Considering the high contrast, B&W might give it more impact.

Now THIS is just too cool! It's provocative, but also funny (ET's still waiting for someone to answer that phone call!) The high contrast makes for a stunning and original photograph.

I like the contrast in textures and colors, which the lighting really brings out. Good photo!

Whoa! This sure caught my attention! I love the contrast, dark sky, and lens angle, all of which make for a very striking picture.

Another great portrait, Javed! I like the use of sepia on this. It adds to the warmness of the smile. I especially like the eyes.

Javed,
Gimp, Photoshop... Aside from one being free and the other costing money they both do the same thing. I was not criticising you, I just jumped to the mistaken conclusion that the Gimp was used, for I could duplicate the image exactly using that software. The exercise was fun, and it taught me how to better use that effect, for which I thank you!

Very nice portrait, and I like the settings you used for the Gimp's (www.gimp.org) weave script-fu.

Very creative and fun photo. Nice layout and use of colors. Well done!

I like this a lot--it's a great character study! I can understand your hesitation to do some PS work on this, but I think that if you want to show off the detail of where this woman lives, then bringing out some of it from the shadows would be in order. As for cropping, how about keeping the picture as is, but crop it about 1/2 inch above the square placard that's above her head, to our right? It's easy enough to see right on screen--just scroll and measure with a ruler. That would keep some of the space you want, but remove the unnecessary horizontal roof line.

I think the framing is just fine. Having a bit of dark at the top and bottom works to give it some symetry, and the dark on the left, but light on the right ensures it doesn't look too symetrical.
I gotta tell ya, when I first saw this, I thought it was a field of grass, late evening sun, with some weird kind of weeds. :-)

Really nice. Good exposure on the door frame and courtyard, though the couryard beyond the next gate is a bit blown out, but I know the exposure on this had to be real tricky. I especially like how there's a green door in the courtyard and another gate leading to... who knows where.
Hope you enjoyed the pubs! ;-)

Most excellent! I love the colors, and the choice of lighting for this portrait.
-
Good lighing and imaginative, albeit somewhat bizarre. ;-) I looked at your folder and think B&W was a good choice for this.

Very original. Good placement of objects. Interesting choice of color; one would normally go for blue. I like it!
