Michael, in 2010 I dropped my 12-24.. Probably the same broken part, but I don't remember exactly. It was repaired by NCSS in Amsterdam quickly in 2011.

Concluding.. I cannot really help you! Having the lens repaired was worthwhile - it is a good thing.

Albin, thank you very much for the input. I'll check with them. It just seems very difficult to find parts for this lens.

I recently dropped my nikon 12-24 mm lens and the autopsy showed a broken rear fixed ring (part no 1K631-422). It is the ring that sits on top of the silent wave motor unit.

Looking through the net I noticed that a few members may have had similar problems and I am looking for some guidance as to where I could find the part.
