  1. I am hoping, these conditions (and COVID too) are relaxed, by the time I visit. If not, I will read the testing window carefully and avoid these issues, discussed here. I think I have time to visit only 2 islands. Kauai would be the one, I will definitely visit. I am still reading about all places and trying to decide between Maui and Oahu. Probably I should go to Maui, along with Kauai. Regarding lens selection, I have Z6 (24-70mm f/4 & 50/85mm & 300mm PF). Guess, I will leave all primes at home?
  2. Thanks for your tips. You are right about the COVID test. If we should negative report, quarantine is not required. Also, I am hoping this requirement can go away till my travel time if we should proof of fully vaccinated. @AlanKlein : I also thought of taking a cruise. That is a good way to see all islands in just one pack/unpack process and avoid the hassle of island hopping/flights. But as per the current requirement of NCL, they are allowing ONLY vaccinated people. I am going with my 5 years old. So, it is kind of ONLY vaccinated adults for now. So we will be renting a car on both islands (whichever we will decide). I will see if I can more responses who visited these islands by car and explored more.
  3. Hello, I will be visiting Hawaii anytime from May till mid September (any preference of month should I have?), for 10 days. I am browsing tons of posts on tripadvisor and it looks overwhelming to me, as there are so many places. Lot of beaches. So can't figure, what are places I should skip and what I should not miss. I will be going with family, so no long hikes and we are not fan of water sports. So far, it looks like most folks suggest Kauai is must. As I want to see 2 Island, I can't decide if next one should be Maui or Oahu. Nothing is booked as of now, so I am flexible on it. Please suggest, which Island and placed you would suggest. What kind of places I like - I loved Banff and Jasper, Black Forest of Germany, Switzerland Alps, Highway-1 of California. I have Z6 with 24-70mm f/4, 50/85mm, and also 300mm PF. I guess primes will be less used, except shooting some family pictures. Also I am thinking to get UWA (14-30mm), if I get in good price. Please advice. Thanks
  4. @Monophoto, thanks for suggestion. But I already booked flights to Boston, as there were no direct flights to other nearby airports. I am just 11 days far from my travel date (28th Sep to 3rd Oct) and being many places green, I am getting little worried. I have been watching predictions and fall foliage reports on different forums. May be, I can map routes later but now I have to book lodging, where, I don't know yet. I am still trying to find, if it should one base or two bases to cover more ground. For those dates, I have read good areas are north of St.Johnsburry (Burke, St.Johnsburry Brownington, Stowe) and another area is South of it (White Mtns, Conway, Lake Sunapee, Killington, Norwich, Woodstock NH, Woodstock VT). Do you suggest other area ? What do you recommend ? I will reach Boston on evening of 28 September and will be flying out on 3 October night. In worst case, if my dates are really not worth, I will cancel it for this year.
  5. Thanks Charles. I am planing to travel on 28th Sep to 3rd Oct. Not sure, if western Massachusetts would be good place at that time ? Probably northern Vermont and northern New Hampshire ?
  6. There is no EDIT option, so have to post new one. I read more and it looks like, earlier dates (28th Sep to 3rd Oct) are good for Northern New England and later dates (12th Oct to 17th Oct) would be better for southern New England. Which can be considered as more photogenic for landscapes ?
  7. Now, regarding 28th Sep to 3rd Oct vs 12th Oct to 17th Oct, depend on, which area is heavier on photographic opportunity, I would want to choose place and dates.
  8. Looks like, I would want to choose New England for this year, though my travel time will be 28th Sep to 3rd Oct. I understand that it can be early for few area, so do not know, which area I should skip and which to include and search for routes and places. Can anybody from New England area suggest and give some ideas ? This is my only time (in next many years), when I will go that part of US and my travel are perfect dates (supposed to be so 7th October weekend, I assume), so I want to choose it carefully.
  9. Hello, We are planning for a quick trip in October. Fall color is bonus for October, but I am looking for overall trip, which should consider fall foliage, landscapes and beautiful scenery. After doing some reading, I can see two options, first is Blue Ridge Parkway and Smokey Mountain and secondly New England Area. Flight distance or price is not decision factor, as Boston, Atlanta as well as Washington are having almost same fare and flight times. I understand, beauty is subjective and every place hold its own beauty. To narrow down, I may have few considerations, which can help. First consideration is, I will have full 4 days (not travel days) to see and drive places. If I talk about both options (long drives are ok with me) - 1- For New England, I will fly in Boston and will take a upper loop covering different places. 2- For NC/TN/VA, I can fly to Washington and drive till Atlanta and fly out. This will be via Smokey and some part of Blue Ridge Parkway. Second consideration is, 7th October is not available for me to travel. Its previous weekend and later ones are available for me, if peak time of any place is relevant to that weekend. Third consideration is, my interests are not just pictures of foliage, but landscapes with foliage, red and yellow foliage (and hopefully blue skies). To give better shape to pictures, I think, it is good to have some countryside or beautiful architecture. Something like this - https://goo.gl/MUpG49 Any suggestion, on what basis I should decide or what should I expect from both of these places ? Thanks
  10. Hello, This question is related to July first week. We are flying in and out from Anchorage. We are interested in scenic and photographic spots and have two options - Anchorage - Cantwell - Paxson - Glennallen - Anchorage (via Denali Hwy - https://goo.gl/zQ7Esi) Anchorage - Cantwell - Fairbanks - Paxson - Glennallen - Anchorage (via Richardson Hwy - https://goo.gl/as96TD) That means, either I can choose Denali Hwy (Cantwell to Paxson) and skip going to Fairbanks and then driving south on Richardson Hwy. Here I am missing Paxson to Fairbanks part. OR I can skip Denali Hwy, go to Fairbanks and come down south to Valdez. Here, I am missing Denali Hwy (Cantwell to Paxson) So my question is supposed to be, should I miss Cantwell to Paxson (via Denali Hwy) or missing Paxson to Fairbanks will be less hurting. Provided that there will be no rain and car is allowed on gravel road, which will give us better photo opportunities ? Obviously "better" is subjective, but want to get some idea, what should I expect from both routes and on what basis, I should decide. Thanks
