  1. <p>About 6 months ago I re-structured my website. Out of 30+ galleries/albums, I decided fairly whimsically to title one of them "By the sea-film photography". No other gallery has a title with any indication of whether the content is film-based. Reality is that I've been fully digital since 2009 and all told about 85% of the site's photographs are digital in origin. </p>

<p>But I have visit counters on each gallery and these indicate that this gallery has between 3 and 4 times the number of visits than the second highest gallery, and about 4x the visits of the average gallery. Its getting 3.5 x the traffic of another, similarly named gallery called "By the sea -digital photography. It isn't in a particularly prominent place; the photographs on it are all at least several years old and have been on my sites forever, though not over this title. I don't believe the quality of this photography is notably better or worse than you'd find elsewhere on the site.</p>

<p>I'm curious as to why this might be happening. Anyone seen any objective signs of a resurgence of interest in film stuff? My web guy has checked the way visits are being counted is the same here as on the other galleries. I guess I'm surprised that a fairly arbitrary way of dividing up an 80 shot portfolio into two 40 shot galleries is having such an effect.</p>

Have any of you been to the local music outlet of late...look at the resurgence in LP 33 albums in the music business...!!!! Old music is outselling New Music...and the whole music industry is being affected by the Analog HiFi

  2. Friends, while shooting my Tamron SP 150-600mm/5-6.3 (Nikon mount) the other day the autofocus suddenly ceased to function. No warning, no adverse events or issues, it just quit working. I've manipulated all the switches on the lens several times, and I have fitted it to multiple bodies. Nothing. All of my other lenses continue to function correctly on both bodies.(D7100 and D5100.) The manual focus continues to work on the Tamron, as smooth as ever, without binding or any noise. Since the primary purpose of this lens is wildlife photography, I can continue to use it in manual mode, but autofocus is very desirable. I live in the Salt Lake City, Utah, area. First, is this lens worth repairing? (Purchased used for $600 US.) Second, if it's worth repairing, do you have recommendations on where to send it? I see very mixed reviews online regarding cost and efficacy of Tamron factory repair services. Your input and insights are sincerely appreciated. Happy trails, David.

I bought a Tamron from a store that went out of business...lost my receipt ect ect...Finally remembered I had used my credit card for the purchase..got a receipt from them and talked to Tamron in New Jersey...They fixed and returned the camera in less than 5 days to Idaho...and I have had no further problems with Nikon D-300 D-7100 bodies...I have had countless conversations with people over clean this or that...adjusting things on the camera menu...Send it in Send it in...the Generation 2 Tamron has had a few of these glitches

  3. My way of doing street photography is to stand in one place for a while and see if any interesting people appear. After a few minutes I move on. I had been doing this for about an hour when two community police officers came up to me and told me that two people had complained to them about me photographing them.

I pointed out that it is not a crime to photograph people in a public place. Nevertheless they wanted my name and address and did a check on me to see if I had any convictions. They also wanted to look at the shots I had taken. All this took place in public view of everyone making it look like I was a criminal.

At the end I told them I was going to make a complaint and they said that was my right. I couldn't be bothered to make a complaint but I'm posting this to see if anyone else has had any problems when doing street. Keith

    File the complaint...
