  1. I ended up buying a Mamiya 6 in the end. Got it with the 75mm, looking to expand and buy the 150 next. Amazing camera to work with. The fact it collapses is a very underrated feature!
  2. Hey all, I'm trying to place my Mamiya 6 in terms of manufacture date. I took it to a repair tech and he said it must be a very early model but I'm not convinced. Does anyone have serial number info? My camera body is marked C00019, the lens C00048 and they are both stamped with the word SAMPLE
  3. Great advice, thank you Hector. Do you think the problem could be solved with a small weight attached to the bottom?
  4. I'm looking for a great travel tripod. Everything I read seems to point towards a mefoto air as the best current travel setup. I'm not sure this isnt just amazing marketing on their part, which I fall prey to every time. Is it great? The price certainly is. Is there anything better? I'm going to be using a variety of cameras on this btw. But nothing over 3kg at the very most
  5. I definitely agree with the scarcity of the parts situation. To me I'm really in a difficult place. Mamiya 6 seems to be the ONLY 6x6 rangefinder and those are the qualifiers. I imagine if i spend a little extra for a high quality example I'll come off pretty well.
  6. Of all the suggestions, the mamiya 6 definitely stands out as a go to travel, medium format camera. The mamiya 7 seems to have that edge, but the cost is holding me back. I also prefer the 6x6 format of the 6. Anything to know about the mamiya 6 before I go down the rabbit hole? Any quirks or film it does/doesn't like?
  7. Thanks for the advice. Id be much more inclined to give two lenses a go now. maybe one for landscapes and one for street shooting. I was hoping to maybe grab something in more of the rangefinder body style than the tlr box style
  8. Hey everyone, having trouble doing research and need to throw it over to the Photo.net community! I am going to Japan for the first time later in the year (very excited, hit me up with any recommendations). I thought it'd be really cool to shoot the whole trip on medium format. It is such a photogenic country and I'd love to bring it to life on the larger format. As I'll be travelling around heaps everyday I wanted your recommendation for a compact medium format camera that wont break the bank and a single lens for that camera that'll let me capture my whole trip! Many thanks
  9. Flash new guy alert.. Hello everyone, I'm looking for a compact flash to pair with my olympus pen s. I've never bought a flash before and was looking for some suggestions. I have a big old flash that I was given, but I haven't really used it and its too bulky to carry around with me most days. I'm looking for something that has a sync port, not a hot shoe (no idea if most flashes have a sync port). If possible something that's kinda flat and runs horizontal to keep my olympus pen nice and compact. Looking for something relatively feature rich, but portability is key here. Also feel free to impart any flash wisdom, because I've got no bloody idea!
  10. Hey everyone! I'm hunting for a great christmas present for my partner. She wants a point and shoot camera, but I know she appreciates manual controls a lot. She comes from a dslr background and has a film konica that is permanently aperture priority. My thinking brings me to rangefinder cameras. Is there a good (reasonably inexpensive) rangefinder with full manual controls as well as some sort of automatic function for when shes feeling lazy? Let me know your thoughts!
  11. Hey everyone, I just bought myself an Olympus Pen and I was trying some filters on it from an unmarked bin (Just to make sure they fit). I put one on, then when I tried to unscrew it it just ended up unscrewing the whole fixed lens mount. I've tried all the classic filter removal techniques, freezer and rubber band and nothing has worked. The filter is tiny, it's 22.5mm. So it's very hard to get a proper grip on it. What can I do? I'd be happy to leave it there, but I hadnt cleaned the filter first!
  12. <p>So I ended up shooting at 400 and getting it developed as such. Here's a couple shots. Genuinely unsure of where to go from here, what do you think?<br /><br /><a href=" /></a><br /><a href="
  13. <p>Glen, I love the look of those photos. Can't quite wrap my head around processing being included! <br /><br />I really have gambled on these rolls, but I feel it will pay off somehow. I had bids on much more sensible lots, but a bunch of 1600 rated e6 film seemed like a good bargain. No idea it was expired. <br /><br />I'm going to do a test roll as soon as they arrive. Any suggestions on how to shoot a comprehensive test roll? I'm thinking a couple different ISO settings on a couple differently lit subjects. Maybe change the F stop a couple times for each ISO setting at each subject. What do you guys think? </p>
  14. <p>Wow, thanks for the comprehensive replies! I got lucky and won quite a few rolls, so I've definitely got enough room to shoot a test roll and see how we go. I'll shoot some stuff at various ISO settings and a couple different shutter speeds per ISO and then get it developed as normal and see what happens!</p>
  15. <p>Hey all. I snagged a great bargain on a bulk lot of Fujifilm Provia 1600. I did not realise what I'd really gotten myself in for. There isn't much info out there. This film has been in a cool dark place for the last 5 years. Almost definitely expired. How do I go about shooting and developing this film? <br /><br /><br /></p>
