I don't think the ratings system really applies to this kind of photo. It's terrific, real exciting, but I couldn't judge it on originality or aesthetics. I call it a great picture.

Cool. Who needs focus and definition, when you can have atmosphere and excitement?

As a first impression, I'd say 'let's see more of the band and less of the crowd'. Then again, I love the way the red lighting picks out the outline of the individual members of the audience. So what if you couldn't get closer? I hate rules, and I apologise for my first impression. Close ups are boring if that's all you see or take.

One of the first things I was told about printing was that a good print should contain a little black, a little white, and the rest in between. I think this picture proves this advice wrong. The nice moment counts, and matters.

Lucky? This must be one of the best Stones shots I've seen! I'd trade most of my negatives to have taken this. Or maybe even all of them.

It is to be part of a group of photos I haven't taken yet. They will be displayed along with the spanners and other tools which I've painted.
Thanks for commenting.

What a pose! I think I'd have printed it a touch darker, but that's very subjective. I love the grain, too, it can really bring this kind of photography to life. I wonder if that's just because I know that grain = fast? Less photography minded people may just think either 'old' or 'poor quality', but I hope not, because my pictures are very grainy. I hope you don't mind, but I've set this as my wallpaper.

This is an outtake from the photos which will make up part of my
degree show. They should refer to advertising. Also exhibited will be
a collection of tool painted in similar colours.

I like the unusual compostion of this - I wish I knew what they were laughing at.

I just like this as a snapshot of a fleeting moment. How about you?

The lighting for this was very even and dull. I printed it grade 5,
and the normal ceiling light looks kind of like a spot on the
performers! They weren't even on stage, just playing on the floor in
a pub. What do you think?

I've put this in the Fine Art catagory because I'm a fine art student
and I think it's partly due to the open minded nature of studying
fine art that I like this. Does a portrait have to be well lit,
posed, processed etc. to be a good one?

This is an old photo from before I had gear that was more suited to
this kind of work. It's also the only printable photo from a film I
took of this band (always check your aperture settings when you've
just changed lenses!). I still like it though. It's a good example of
where I was a couple of years ago.

I think I'd prefer the sun a little lower in the sky, but I LOVE the flare! Why do so many photographers waste time and money trying to avoid this natual phenomenon, when it can be used so effectively?

I'm dead pleased with this. If only that mic wasn't sticking out of
her shoulder... All those guys who use flash will never get one like
this.
