As some of us might have experienced, taking a camera (anything other
than a point and click) into a protected monument draws attention
from the Archeological Survey of India folks. In most places you are
not allowed to use a flash, and defintely in all you are not allowed
to use a tripod.
There is a way around this. Though a bit painstaking. ASI is
headquartered in New Delhi at the National Museum premises. You
either need to meet Mr Bakshi who is an asst director or write to him
for permission.
ASI has a format in which they will write in the details and send it
to you. Without this, your photo ops will vanish and you will not be
allowed to do any serious stuff.
Happy to provide more details if you need...just drop me an email.

hi guys, this is not really a question - well, which means that this
posting might get removed. Anyways - Have you ever seen a perfect
rainbow? If yes, have you seen the correct start and the end of a
rainbow as it hangs on the earth? Now, have you seen two perfect
rainbows at the same time (in concentric circles) at the same time?
How about adding a dust storm and a sun burst (from the clouds) within
the same 100sq miles at the same time?
... am I kidding / joking?
Nope - this was a very uncanny experience that I had last evening /
late afternoon. I was driving back from Vegas to Phoenix, after
rain..had passed the Hoover Dam - was into AZ...on a flat stretch of
road, I got to see this - shall post the photographs later (though I
repent not owning a 14mm lens) - blew my mind. Almost seemed to be
(don't laugh) God's way of telling - 'hah, you went to Vegas for the
shows, right? Let me tell you what a show is'...
..and it felt rather uncanny.
