Thank you for both of your reply.
I use a flash light to look more closely. It seems it's on the other side of the the first element. and the one on the ten oclock looks like several white, tiny spots. Is that the so called coating breakdown?
The one on the three oclock also look like on the other side of the first element, and it does reflect light differently.
I just purchase the lens from an auction, so i don't know what the storage condition might be like before.
If it is the coating deterioration, how often and how long would it take to expand to the center? So far, I couldn't tell anything wrong in the image.
Regards,

Hello,
I had just noticed two odd specks showing up on the front element of my Leica Elmarit-R 60 macro lens.
They don't seem to be something I can wipe off with lens cleaner,
Should that be a coating breakdown, some epoxy residue or else?
Thank you for your answer and comment.
Regards,
Perry

Here's the link to the http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/RwQ5Ruemetj_SdOhTP5K_w?feat=directlink

Thank you all for the explanation and sharing of your similar experience. Now I learned it. I'll certainly go exchange it ASAP.

I"m looking for help on explaining a small shadow spot on the images of my new
camera.
A strange small grey spot occurs on left below corner, and it only shows when
apeture is larger than f/4.5. so I assume it's not from a dust on the CCD. and I
don't see any visible dust on the lens. (I'm using a 10X lupe to examine it.)
any explanations? how large a dust can cause this size of shadow? and where on
lens it can be?
I'm thankful for any help on explaining the possible location of the dust or any
other reasons.

Thanks for the advice, Chuk. I can't really see any effects on the lens. But, like you said, it could get worse in the long run. I just sent it back today.
