Jake, DG has already said "No the cat didnt get hurt he is up and jumping around like always. He was not picked up and tossed or anything like that."

I wouldn't be surprised if the large scoop in front of the tail had something to do with the crash. The tail is pretty small compared to the scoop and is right behind it, in a low-pressure, turbulent area -- it was probably only marginally effective.

Mr. Doran,
While your comment about the light situation is valid technical advice, I don't think it applies so well here. I can see from your photos that you have been around tracks a great deal, so you know you don't get to pick-and-choose the time of day a race is held, nor can you pick what the weather will be like, and in many cases you don't get a choice of where you can set up for a good shot. IMO, Cecil was at the right place (the inside of a turn) at the right time and created a great shot, especially considering his trash can balancing act.
FWIW, I'm the pseudo-official photographer for the Peachtree Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America, so I'm pretty familiar with racetrack settings. (chapter gallery here)http://www.peachtreebmwcca.org/gallery/driving_school_2001/tn3/DS_01-10-14_E36_silver.jpg -

A synopsis of the real battle.
If you're interested in Civil War reenactments, do internet searches on the phrase "civil war" with "reenactment" and perhaps add a particular battle you're interested in. Bring longish lenses for the battle scenes as well as some earplugs!

I agree. However, that pole is part of the cart.
