Hello everyone. I appreciate all the responses!

As far as my equipment is like to be be able reuse goes I just

need my glass. Honestly couldn't care less about my

batteries, CF cards, or other bits. Both of my lenses are AF

(Nikkor 1.8f 50mm, then a nikkor vr 18-55mm lens.)

Of those mentioned the D300, D7000, and D3300 all seem

appealing. Photography is a hobby of mine, not something I

make money with. Not very good as evident with my gallery

but I still enjoy it.

The D500 suggested, while hide looking is well outside my

realm of spending, however.

This body has been an absolute workhorse and has been

great to use. However with some of the shots I've been

wanting to do and have been I've come to a limitation of the

hardware. Resolution. Especially with astrophotography this

limitation shows.

Now I have no desire to get a bleeding edge body. Just

something at least as good as my D100 with a more suitable

sensor. I'm wondering if anyone can give some suggestions

for such a body. Ideally Im interested in something any $300.

Used is fine. But I am open to other suggestions as well.

It definitely was true that I was happy with my N80. Just looking for a bit of an upgrade.<br>

Some additional details. I am not rough with my equipment by any means. However I do pack it up in a backpack and carry it on the back of my motorcycle as it is my only mode of transportation. I do understand the F5 is a fairly heavy monster. But my D100 isn't too light either, and I have no issue with it. And unless the specifications I've seen are incorrect it puts the F5 about 1/3rd heavier than it. As far as my shooting I do primary nature shots. I am looking into dabbling a bit into landscaping. And I also do a few action and portait shots. More recently I have been playing with astrophotography, but I have been keeping that to digital, particularly a fantastic camera phone. All the same I am sort of interested in take film for a spin in this area though I wholly understand that is far from ideal. <br>

I guess really the biggest reason I am considering the F5 is how rugged it supposedly is. As I've heard it was pretty much the de facto warzone film body and could be dropped from a building with no resulting issues. As such that makes it appear very appealing, particularly if I were to go down on the bike on some trail or get caught in rain. Another thing that seems to be noted is the color metering. Though in further digging it seems the biggest advantage with that is if you're shooting on chrome or low lighting.<br>

That said I have also heard the F100 is pretty much just a weatherproofed N80. Though how weather proof I don't know. But it seems to also be extremely susceptible to devulcanization of the rubber resulting in sticky body. <br>

Again. For everyone that has responded I truly appreciate it and it provides a lot of info to chew on. </p>

<p>Hello all. Firstly I apologize if this is the wrong section to post this in. <br /><br />I've been hunting for a site to post some of my very amateur photos on, and this site struck a cord with me. Particularly because of how helpful this forum seems. <br>

I have a Nikon N90 that has given up the ghost. Refuses to power on at all. So I am looking to upgrade while I'm at it. What has immediately caught my eye are the F5 and F100 models. What I am looking at now is a used decent condition F5 hovers around $280 whereas the F100 sits around $160. I am curious if at this point the F5 has enough additional features to justify the additional cost. Don't get me wrong, at the very base they're light tight boxed meant to expose film, but that doesn't mean some additional farkles aren't nice. </p>
