Here’s an odd one. I didn’t mess with the color on this—the “B&W” background is foggy, but there’s full sun in the foreground. I exposed to avoid blowing out the foreground, so the background is underexposed, making it look even more colorless.

On Saturday night my local river experienced its highest flow since the near-legendary Flood of ’64, having fielded more than 10” of rain in 72 hr in parts of its basin. I didn’t venture out with my camera until the next morning, after the stage had dropped about 6 feet at this location. This is as far as I got along the river trail, which, in theory, extends a bit farther toward the trees before turning left. Or at least it used to.

Meanwhile, my 80D stopped communicating with its lenses a few months ago, and I found out that it was going to cost about the equivalent of a new mirrorless to get it fixed.
