  1. Hi Jack, thanks for passing by. That is indeed the kind of body geometric lines I look for when posing my models. Nonetheless, this case is mostly inspired by a photo by Thomas Doering, great contributor to this site.
  2. Thanks for passing by and commenting, Jack. I actually wanted some vintage effect and did it by cropping a bit both ends of the blue histogram. Regarding composition, I would have liked the model to have moved a couple of inches to her right side, however I think the streght of the photo is more about the three hot spots (the flying apple, her gaze and her beautiful torso) the eye is moving between. Lastly, and as said before in the caption, the concept of playing and having fun with the model, among the color match between her lipstick and the apple, is a tribute to John Peri.

Thanks for passing by, Paul. This pose (and much of my nudes) is actually inspired on one photo by Thomas Doering, who has an amazing port in this website.

Paul, thanks for passing by and giving your fedback. It took me a while to realize these purple tones on the decidous trees came from the adjustment of the red tone curve. I made a test without that setting and actually the photo has a different character, yet I am not sure I like it more.

Hi Paul, thanks for passing by and commenting. It was probably caused by high aperture and the focus to be fixed slightly behind the model.

Hi John. Thanks for passing by. It is real honor to get you commenting on my work.

The merit of the pose falls mainly on my beautiful model. Regarding the focus, it was just the sweet f8 as in studio I control exposure with power/distance of flashes. The softness you correctly detect is caused by the frequency separation and dodge&burn I used on post.

John, on the light of the last photos you posted I'd venture to think you accidentaly left the focus on manual. Is it only me or are they all slightly ouf of focus?

Thanks Keith. It was not even on purpose. I told her to turn sideways in pursuit of a regular portrait with unbalanced shoulders then she gave me her profile. I like it and triggered the shutter. The rest was just some adjustment of levels in LR and skin clean up in PS. Its great, and at the same time frustrating that the best things come by chance, totally unplanned.

    Thanks for all your comments.

Fred, you are right there is a de-humanizing factor on this type of portrait, but this is what I seek for in this type of sessions. In the case of female models, I want to de-sexualize their nudes to focus on the geometry of their bodies, so I have to instruct them to behave as stones and keep away from the erotic-minded body language they trend to be requested. In the case of the subject of this photo, I just followed the same scheme, regardless he is a man. On the other hand, while on other kind of portraits I do ask the model to show emotions and try to take them up, I believe that capturing the inner essense of the person being subjected in a photograph is the utmost challenge a portrait photographer can face; and I acknowledge that this is too high for my current skills.
