1.
hi Vlad,
I am a regular reader of this forum, though not posting very often anymore. Than I happen to see a link to my work - thanks for your kind words!
Since 2007 I have been working with a Hasselblad 22MP back (132c and later a 528c) on my Rollei 6008. PP in Phocus (raw) and Photoshop.

Last week I have been reorganizing some of my pre 2007 slides. Projected (I have two Rollei66s) they look gorgeous - better than on a computer monitor. That said, coping with the glass mounts, dust etc. I wouldn't go back for convenience nor for quality.
Prints and certainly scanned files from film don't have the detail and flexibility I can get out of the digital files. Of course, the way of printing and scanning is just my mileage.

Comparing MF film to dSLRs is a different point. Their difference is more in workflow and how you see your subject (litterally) than in image quality as such.

  2.
hi Peter,
I have a 6008i, just like you, and have been using Hasselblad 132C and 528C backs through an adapter (made by Imacon/Hasselblad themselves). New(er) CF backs can be used too, though I am not sure if the newest 60MP back will fit, bc it has a larger sensor.
The back just works fine. There is a small, rather rigid cable to be placed between the back and the camera - no problem. The 6008AF and 6008i2 can do without this cable.
Sinar has its own adapters for Rollei. Leaf and Phase are mostly unusable, unfortunately.

  3.
A good second hand back that can be used without computer, 22MP 37x48mm sensor can be had for less than 4500 euros. Not cheap, but what do you spend on film and processing each year? Even for amateurs this might be above 1500 a year.
And an Imacon 528C that I have (and I know there are more of these in the market) is really more flexible and higher quality than scanned film, unless you are talking real high end scanning - which costs more than the back.
4.
I have been using a 22MP back on my Rollei 6008i for a few years now. I also use a 10MP dSLR. Most of my work is landscape photography.
The difference to me is not just the resolution, not even the total different way of working (portability, zoom lenses etc as a pro for the dSLR), but mainly the files. The Ixpress ones are richer in tones, can be pushed to the limit without many problems etc.
Of course a 10MP dSLR is not state-of-the-art anymore, but the back is from 2004 too.
5. dear all,

I have been many times in Scotland, as you might find out after some looks at my website
Very often people ask e.g. 'where to go - 5 days trip to Scotland' and get the advice to go to Glencoe, Mull or Skye.

And of course Eilean Donan Castle. Very beautifull indeed!

Last Spring, as well as February 2007, I spent some time in the less touristy Argyll area (OK, not tourist free, but

definately less well known by the large crowds). So I want to give a vote here for a visit to Argyll here, especially the

smaller islands of Lismore and Easdale and the other Slate Islands, Seil and Luing.

Lovely scenery, great views to Mull, the mainland and a lot of smaller islands like the Garvellachs.

For travelling it is great to combine with Glencoe or Mull and in easy reach of Glasgow.

    Enjoy! Wim

  6. hi Jim, have to disappoint you :-) I have been working with a digital back since November 2006 (a refurbished Imacon 132C to be precise. Here you can find an article about my experiences.

The above photo is a stitch of two pictures, hence the square.

thank you all for the compliments, Wim

  7. dear all,

After our visit to Scotland last April / May (two weeks on the Slate Islands south of Oban) I worked on the

photographs, esp. the panoramas. Stitching in CS3 is real fun!

You can find the results here (that is to say the portion that I added today, some more will come in next week):<a

    I hope you enjoy!

  8. Hi Chris,

I am quite sure it is a I-adapter with some contacts added that give the same information as the cable does with the 6008i cameras. Which is great, because one can still use the electronic release cable, which you cannot with a 6008i because the cable uses the plug.

  9. It is a good projector (I own two of them). The lens probably is the cheaper plastic one. Quite usable, but you?ll probably want to upgrade.

Together with the slide mounts (if they are old, you can expect some cleaning) the prices sounds good, although I haven't checked market prices in recent years.
