Try Carderock and the C&O Canal, across the river from Great Falls
-
Try Great Falls and Carderock - both sides of the Potomac
also Jug Bay and Merkle on opposite sides of the Patuxent River
Eagles, herons, ducks, osprey, geese, woodland and field birds depending on the season.

It's the nest of a ruby-throated hummingbird. Rarely seen or found.

Try Carderock/Great Falls on the Maryland side of the Potomac for the C&O Canal footpath or Great Falls on the Virginia side - trails down the Potomac Gorge. Lots of birds but I don't know how easy they are to photograph.

Try Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary and Jug Bay south of Baltimore on opposite sides of the Pautuxent River, also the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center south of Annapolis.

Many photos of the Green Flash exist - One was on the cover of Scientific American a number of years ago - try the image search in google for "Green Flash"

I am planning a trip to Tucson the first week of April - are there
likely to be wildflowers then at any of the surrounding areas and
elevations. Also welcome suggestions of other must see places.
