<p>OK so if I'm making sense of it now, the dark line on the graph represents where a hand-off of sorts between the various shutter speeds should occur at a corresponding EV.<br>

Anyhow, I've put a 24 exp roll of film in the camera, and will shoot 12 exp on full auto in various indoor/outdoor (hi/low light) settings. Then 12 in manual mode using the camera's own light meter just to double check it's reading correctly.<br>

If this camera is not functioning properly, it seems like a rather involved repair :(</p>

the chart on page 15 of the

manual, I think I get it. In a

sense, auto is really like

shutter priority (set to 1/250),

and the logic will adjust the

aperture between f1.7-22, but if

the EV is <5, it should switch

the shutter to 1/15.

I bought a roll of film and will

shoot a test roll in various

lighting conditions.

So I've noticed when my Oly35SP is in full auto mode, it's really only firing at one speed (sounds a lot like the 1/500th setting). The meter works, and it very close to the readings from my handheld lightmeter. In manual mode I can clearly hear the difference in shutter speed at different settings. BUT in full auto no matter what the lighting the shutter fires very very quickly. Anyone ever had or heard of something like this?<br>

I purchased an Olympus 35 SP. Cosmetically it's in

great shape, and the glass looks great.

But here's the rub. When I move the shutter ring to

change shutter speed, it feels a little stiff, and makes

the self-timer whirr sound as its moved. The shutter

fires, and depending on shutter speed that's been set, it

fires faster or slower. (i. e. long on 1 sec, fast on 1/500

of sec).

So, is any one familiar with the camera, how it normally

operates, and if this whirring is a normal function of the

camera.

I remember reading online about a film camera that

would print the aperture and shutter speed info between

the frames of the negative. I believe it was an SLR, but I

can be totally mistaken.

Any help would be great.
