<p>Thanks everyone for the input. I think I'm going to try and get Lasersoft (Silverfast) to recover my serial number. But if that doesn't work, then I'm going to look closely at Vuescan- especially if Lasersoft decides to ignore me as a customer- which I think they probably will.</p>

<p>Does anyone know of a scanner software that I could use instead of Silverfast? I have a Plustek 7600 Ai and I am so frustrated with Silverfast 6.6. with trying to get it to work in Windows 7/64. When I had it working on XP (before my HD died- I know- I should have cloned it!) I wasn't a big fan of it- it is clunky to use and unpredictable. <br>

I can't upgrade to Silverfast Studio 8 since I have lost the serial number so that isn't an option- unless I spend the $300 for the new serial number. That is frustrating since the Plustek scanner is only a $400 piece of equipment and came with the Silverfast software free. The Silverfast Studio 8 license is almost the cost of a new scanner!<br>

So I am in search of alternatives- anyone with any advice?</p>
