The in camera HDR also captures separate RAW files which you can use to make your own, blended final image.

If its like the X100 you need to have Auto ISO turned ON to use Auto DR.

Brian, you can always compensate for field of view with your feet or by re-locating your tripod. However you will see a much bigger
change in overall image quality (IMHO). The change to a FF sensor and a step up to one of the best Canon L lenses will be the reason.

External focussing - could it be IR ala the Hexar?
The X100 sensor is excellent in low light for noise and this camera may improve on that with IR focussing!

Bill,
Assuming it similar to the X100, AE is used to change metering (spot, multi and average) and AF to change between area ficusing
and point focussing.
The AEL/AFL button is used to lock exposure or focus or both as configured by the user.
Using the X100 in MF with AFL configured, pressing the button activates AF and you can fine tune with focus ring - very handy and
quicker than changing to macro mode for close focussing (say less than 3').

Awesome camera, a digital Hexar! There is allot of discussion about it on RFF. I learned several good focussing set-up
tips there. I also learned how to ditch the long cord for the battery charger there too - go to cyberguys and order a
right angle plug adaptor. Unfortunately the shipping cost more than the adaptor, so I bought two! Did mention -
awesome camera!

Kingsley -
I had similar thoughts as you 2 years ago, loved Fuji Superia Reala processed by A&I with film mailers which I still use from time to time.
When I first bought a Canon 40d I struggled with processing, trying this program & that program, and prints on my home inkjet or sent to various processors were less than ideal.
I finally learned to shoot in RAW, sharpen on input, made exposure and other adjustments, and sharpened on export and my results are now very satisfactory.
I use LR 3, send prints out and also print at home on an EPSON 2880, however I believe the best thing I did was learn how to process via Martin Evening's book - The Adobe PhotoShop LightRoom 3 book.
I suspect any program will serve you well if you learn how to process.
Happy Trails....

Great for sports and portraits, both indoor and out.
As a short-telephoto it also works well to isolate details in buildings or landscape elements.

Canon 10-22 (scenics/environmental portraits); 50 f/1.4 (low-light work, interior details and portraits); and 85 f/1.8 (+ your feet for telephoto work).

Jack/Mike,
Per the original post looks like low-light digital to me.
And, not to be critical but you guys need to learn what the symbols (in this case the "camera") next to peoples names mean.
Some people have real jobs even in internet-land.

Hoping this thread is still active and DB Cooper can describe a workflow in LR with Nik Complete.
I'm new to digital coming from film and recently purchased LR 3.0 and Nik Complete (using iMac w/Epson 2880 printer).
I'm pouring through Martin Evening's latest LR book and so far am pleased with the color and B&W results on luster paper.
Any additonal advice on how to process images would be much appreciated (e.g., capture sharpening & exposure adjustments in LR; B&W conversion, color adjustments, noise reductions and local sharpening edits in Nik; and output sharpening in LR for print?).
Thanks!

I'm not aware of such a single article (you can spend 1 night reading web sites/blogs and make an informed decision you won't regret). I suggest you employ the computer buying Golden Rule - always buy the fastest CPU and the most RAM you can afford. Pick an OS and get the biggest monitor and appropriate video card intended for image editing.
Why? Moore's Law, capitalistic software writers sleeping with computer hardware designers, and the free market economic system.
For what's it worth in reading ~33% of Martin Evening's latest LR 3 Book - The Complete Guide for Photographers, its appears there are more built-in features in LR 3 only supported by MACs. But that MAYBE because that's the OS he uses.

Page 94 also says AEB can be combined w/exposure compensation.
So you can run a sequence of shots with your AEB setting, and then adjust exposure compenation by say 1 stop and run another sequence.
This would yield 5 exposures when you eliminate the duplicates.

Would that be the non-moving 3D world?
I don't see how any anti-shake soluton solves blurring due to subject movement.

Interesting, the best top 11 lenses (by opinion) are Primes and most requests (and responses) for opinions on this forum relate to Zooms.
