1.
Frankly, I'm looking for UV between the 300-350 nm rage. My understanding only the most expensive lenses do that. I got the Nikkor EL as last resort and no not very expensive.

You're right as there is no sufficient online info on which lenses does what and that include the cheapo lenses from back when.
I just don't know what lens would work best for my desire to shoot 300-350nm without spending 5k on a lens.

 2.
Hi,

I would like to mount a Nikkor El lens on my D800 for UV photography. I know these lenses get mounted in reverse on bellows for macro photography. However, I can't imagine walking about with a bellow for UV photography.
In any case, I'm unfamiliar with these kinds of lenses. I have one coming in the mail (El Nikkor 80mm) and I'm not sure what to get for it.
I'd much appreciate it if someone with experience would point me to the things I need to buy to make this work.
Thanks
3.
Hi,

I have a D800 and I am tethering it to Lightroom 5. It is USB tether. I noticed constant on/off like an intermittent issue while tethered. I basically take one shot and have to wait for the on/off back and forth till it shows PC then I take a shot and then it disconnects. Then I have to shut down lightroom and try again to launch it and start the process again. What would have been an easy process turns a 15 minute shoot to an 1 hour fiddling with the connection between D800 and Lightroom.
I don't notice any damage to the wire and the camera is new. Any ideas on what could be causing it and how to trouble shoot the issue?

Thanks

 4.
Something else I bought a new prism viewfinder for this camera. Still even with that prims when looking via the viewfinder it is very 'greyish' and hard to see the details to focus. Is it supposed to be this dark or hazy inside the viewfinder? I would have thought with a prism viewfinder and one that big it would be big enough for me to notice the details when focusing and not having tot ake a wild guess even when pointing it near a lightsource.

 5.
No luck with the red light. I am able to press the shutter and it goes dark until I rewind the lever. I can do that at any speed regardless of battery. I am not sure if that indicates it is working or not. I read the manual, but it isn't as detailed for us newbies of MF.

 6.
This may seem like an odd question.
I bought an RZ67. All the buttons works, but no light comes on anywhere. Is that normal? Should there be a light or electronic display anywhere? If so, I don't know if it work or not. I haven't attempted to take pictures with it, though you can click a the shutter release.
I don't know anyone here in Manila that can look at it and evaluate its function. So, any tips to verify if it is in working function would be greatly appreciated.

 7.
It was the PC cable! It turned out there was a very minor bend inside the tiny wire that didn't allow it to make proper contact. A little tool applied and voila, it is working fine. It appears these things are a bit sensitive. I might want to buy me a spare for emergency cases.

Thanks for the help bro.

 8.
These are not powerful strobes, so I hope I haven't fried anything. I am guessing you think I may have fried the synch circuit in my D800?
http://www.gadgetinfinity.com/goldenshell-jinbei-digital-studio-flash-sprite-180-s-180-110v.html
I am not sure where to get another PC cable short of going to that store itself. I'll see if I can buy one locally.
The strobes pre-flash fires, but not the flash itself. Test firing the flash by pressing the button also works.

 9.
Hi all,

I recently bought a set of studio strobes made in Taiwan. I hooked the PC wire to the D800 to sync it with the strobes. I've been enjoying a good shoot with them. I think I averaged around 4 shoots. Last shoot I just unhooked everything as usual and turned off the strobes. Then yesterday I reattached everything back and no good! The strobes are not synching anymore. They are not flashing. I played with multiple settings in the camera (speed changes, etc.) to get it to work, but no go.
The set is pretty new, so I am dubious that the wire just gone faulty 4 shoots later. Am I missing anything?
I can take it to the shop, but considering where I live that is likely to a 12 hour ride. If there is anything I can do to troubleshoot the problem, I would appreciate the advice.

 10.
Rick,
I have a large collection of MF lenses and some nice AF lenses. I personally prefer to shoot MF on my D800. The only exception is if I am moving about and the subject is also moving about like in events. I would not bring an MF lens to an event unless my camera has a prism screen installed. You are likely to miss out on shots, especially when it gets dark.
If you are doing landscape and focusing to infinity and or needing basic trim to get sharpness then an MF is excellent option.
If you are shooting in studio/portrait/tripod then an MF would work as well.

I manually focus in one of two ways. The first is to open the lens wide, focus, then change aperture again to desired.
The Livescreen works fine in D7000, but in D800 there is too much noise to make it worth the effort.
The easiest way to do it is to tether it to a laptop / pc and set it up on tripod. It will take a few shots, especially if its dark, to get desired sharpness. I often find if I have to refocus it takes maybe 1-2 shots before I get it super sharp. It is a bit more of a hassle then AF, BUT, it can also be fun AND you get access to a variety of lenses from many parts of the world.

I done a test recently on MF forum using 3 MF lens and one AF lens.
It will give you an idea on how different lenses can deliver different results.
