1.
Bad reviews, small business = devastating
bad reviews, large corporation = drop in the bucket, comes with the territory.
How many here are small business owners ? Raise your hand......
And how many here have ever had untruthful negative reviews lodged against you by a totally unreasonable client ? If you have been in business for any length of time, you have, and if you haven't, just wait, you will..........

 2.
Does anyone have a stipulation in their photography contract that stipulates that any client
who agrees to use your services CANNOT post any negative review of your company anywhere
at any time or they will be held liable for damages that arise out of such negative reviews.

If they refuse to agree to that, they can go elsewhere. Is this enforceable ? My son just read,
and im going to post the link as soon as I can, where a photographer sued a client who violated
his contract terms regarding "negative reviews" and won in small claims court.

Your thoughts.

 3.
Yes stealing is stealing, whether it's a Getty image or some file from Youtube downloaded illegally that people copy for their own enjoyment. Be it music or movie. Don't throw out high and mighty accusations if you are guilty of the same thing in some other venue.

 4.
Will the boat be moving or anchored ? Backgrounds and angle of sun will change if moving.
Sounds like you won't be doing too many photos other than the ceremony on the boat. Will you
be doing the family formals AFTER the ceremony on the boat ?
You really need to call and find out if the ceremony is inside or out. That will have a huge impact
on your working conditions for the ceremony. If it's inside, tight fit all the way around. Don't expect any fantastic backgrounds if it's inside.
Depending on the size of your post wedding formals, you could either shoot them inside or on the back deck of the yacht. It's hard to give any real insight without more info to the size of the yacht.
My experience has been that there wont' be that much room to move around. Then again, it all depends on the size of the yacht and whether you are indoors or out.

 5.
I've had some brides say that they didn't need as many hours because they were having a photo booth during the reception so they didn't need a photographer there. Smaller package, less hours.

 6.
I see them at practically every wedding now. The vendors have a wide range of pricing and from the looks of the booths, I can usually tell if they are charging more on the high or low end. Some of them are pretty shabby looking, like some pvc tubing put together that looks like it might fall apart at the first strong wind.

Im considering offering them because just about every bride I meet with asks If I know of a vendor. On my initial question, I fell that it's just one more thing that takes away from the money that goes towards their photography, and if that's the case, I would rather that money be coming back to my pockets.

 7.
What's the actual damage ? Should MEGA corporations be able to extort more money because they have the financial ability to do so, as compared to joe photographer who is a one man mom and pop operation, who may not have the financial ability to threaten to suee someone, have the means to "search" to see if someone is using their images ?
I've always had a huge distaste for LARGE corporations using their power to screw the small guy, regardless of the issue. And that's what is happening here. A simple "take down" letter is all that was needed. Not some ridiculous " fill my fat pockets" threatening demand.

How many of YOU out there have the means to do what Getty can do ?

 8.
Do you offer photo booths and does it add a "real" profit to your income, and do photos booths,
in your opinion, detract from the "photography" budget that brides are allotting to their wedding photo budget ?

 9.
John, "thing of the past"....hmmmmm....check out high end clients......that's all they want.
Dorothy, actually, "old fashioned" albums with prints and mats cost more than collage albums. Blurb albums are "press printed" albums. The more pricey collage style albums are available from many sources but cost more than "press printed" Blurb albums.
You can get a 12x12 20 side printed album from PCL West for around 200.00. Photo cover style. Beautiful albums.
Graphi Studio albums are pricey compared to other companies and are made in Italy so you deal with overseas shipping.

 10.
Anne, as i said perviously, I've "donated' auction gifts for the past 25 years to my local charities and city functions. I always give a set package, no hidden agendas, no game playing, no baiting of the buyer for upselling. My goal was always with the best interest of the organization in mind.
It is so obvious that she is "used" the charity for her own monetary gain, not theirs. Sad how some people have no morals.
