  1. I guess there isn't really a "point of interest"--I mainly took the shot for the patterns...obviously I was standing on the ground shooting up (hence the tilted verticals).

There is not much I can do about the edges, as that's just what happens in the Polaroid transfer process!

    Hands

Yes, it's a Polaroid image transfer...maybe I should add that to the "technicalities" section...the only place I specified that was in the title of the folder that the image is in. The colors are there because peeling the Polaroid film apart early gives kind of a cyan cast to the image, which I didn't correct for (either with filters when exposing the Polaroid film, or in Photoshop after scanning).

This is one of my favorite images. I am interested in any feedback

anyone has on how this image "works" for people who have no emotional

attachment to it (i.e., anyone but me). Thanks!

  2. This is my favorite image in your portfolio! This is gorgeous. I love how the light makes the mountains slightly different shades of the same color, and how the boats are rendered as silhouettes. Beautiful!

I like the idea here, but I agree with the poster above that the contrast is too high. This is a nice image of Santorini--it's got the feeling of the islands without being the typical picture of the blue-topped churches.

    Escalator

This is nice...it might be interesting though to try it at a slower shutter speed so you get a little blur from the movement of the escalator. Somehow it looks just a little too static as it is.
  3. Excellent shot! Nice idea to use the very wide angle this way--your perspective of this landmark gives the photo an original look, which is hard to come by when something is photographed as often as this is. (Makes me want a 17mm lens!) I am impressed with most of the rest of your portfolio as well.
  4. I too thought the cat looked ready to pounce (until I read that he was almost asleep). I love that you managed to capture the wide eyes, and I think the DOF is perfect. Also I really like that it is in b&w--I'm not sure I'd like it as much in color.

I like the symmetry and pattern in this photo. I was surprised a bit when I studied it closer and found that those eyes were not attached to the rest of the body! I really like all of your black & white photography.
