My wife went from Austin to Gonzales today. She said the further south she went the better the wild flowers.

The rain has been sparse and late coming, so the wild flowers are later than usual.

The area around Austin is just starting to bloom and as Paul said another week or two will be much better.

We went to Big Bend about this time last year and it was near 100. I think February or March is a better time for Big Bend.

I attended one with John and Barbara Gerlach in San Antonio last November. They did their usual fine job and will probably be back in 2002.

The price on their fyull day workshop is quite reasonable and very inspiring.

Arthur Morris, in his book "Birds as Art" has a good theory on one way to use the meter and compensate. Available on his web site.

John and Barbara Gerlach have another theory that was presented in a seminar and is available from their web site for a very low price. It is only about the equivalent of a chapter in a book.
