    Can the temperature cause damage to the camera?

    <p>I have been in Tucson photographing this past July. The temps were 108*. I used precaution when leaving my camera in the car. I would cover it with an insulated foil blanket but it still got very hot. I have seen older cameras have the seals melt and had to have the camera rebuilt. I am not sure what the newer cameras use for materials with their seals and gaskets. It is a risk leaving your camera in a hot vehicle for a long time. I have used frozen water bottle in a cooler and then covered the cooler with the blanket before. I wouldn't suggest leaving it there for hours but it will help for short periods when the car is sitting in the hot sun with the windows up<br />

    <p>Wow, this is a lot of information to consider. I guess we have to find a method that works for each of us. These are the products Hoodman offers. The flip up eye glasses are expensive so maybe I will try the eye piece. My problem is I wear bifocals and it is a pain to look through the view finder with them on. I need the closeup bifocal len to see the LCD screen and the camera controls.<br>

    Hoodman flip up eyeglasses for photographers

    <p>I have started wearing eye glasses and I am having problems using them while photographing. I have lost or broke two pairs of glasses already by constantly taking them off to look through the view finder. If you have my problem, how do you deal with it in the easiest way? I have seen ads for the Hoodman flip up eyeglasses for photographers, but have never seen a pair. They are expensive. Has anyone used these and can you give me your opinion of the quality and the ease of use. Thanks, John<br>

    Flying with a tripod

    <p>I have always put my tripod head in my carry on without any problem but that has been a few years ago. I was told my tripod could be used as a weapon so I started packing it in the check on bag. That was in the days I could lock it. Now they cut the lock off. I may just buy a cheaper tripod for flying and not risk losing my Gitzo to a baggage handler.</p>

    <p>I will be doing some domestic and international flying in the next year. I have an expensive Gitzo carbon fiber tripod I will take with me. In the old days I would carry it on with me but now there are restrictions. I always carry on my camera bag, but how should I handle the tripod? </p>

    Looking to buy a new wide angle lens

    <p>I have a Canon 5D11 and would like to either buy a zoom or a fixed 20mm wide angle lens. I like the "L" series lens of Canon but would consider another brand of lens if it is of equal quality. Right now I am considering the 17~40mm F4 L. Any thoughts of what I should consider?<br>

    .PSD or .TIFF?

    <p>I also have real concerns about what good my unflatten PSD files will be in the next few years. I own CS5 but that could become outdated when I upgrade to a new OS system with Mac. I don't plan on paying Adobe a monthly fee for the rest of my life.     <p>I was hoping you would enjoy the area. I could see the weather was good for the few days you were there. I hope you post some photo's. Now you have been there I am sure you will return. The summers are wonderful around the lakes and the fall time in October is spectacular. We lived 62 years on Keuka Lake and sold out a couple of years ago. I miss the area and its beauty.     If you get a new camera and you are using an old PS program that doesn't support your camera, I would suggest converting them to a DNG format ( free download from Adobe) that way you can use your new camera and still convert RAW files on your old PS software. It is an extra step but it still lets you use your old PS program if you don't want to buy or upgrade your software for a new camera purchase. johndoddato.blogspot.com</p>

    <p>I found out today that the new Lightroom 5 will be sold separate of CC. I was told by two Adobe reps that it would not. They evidently gave me the wrong information. </p>

    <p>We will all have to decide for ourselves what is the best way forward. It may be a time where we don't upgrade our OS and software as much as we did in the past. A lot of the new innovations with software has leveled off in the computer world. Sure you can do things with cell phones and apts, but for the photography end of things you have to settle on a useable work flow and just go out and take pictures. In my forty years of darkroom work I upgraded when there was a real big change in equipment or film. Most of the time I just worked with the tools and materials I had for many years. I think we are all tired of the never ending upgrading of the computer world. It may be that Adobe knows it can't come out with big changes anymore to their software and this is a way to keep a steady stream of revenue coming in. <a href="http://johndoddato.blogspot.com/">http://johndoddato.blogspot.com/</a></p>

    If Adobe came out with a brand new upgrade for PS in their effort to sell creative cloud I could see where some people would buy in. At the current offering you will only be buying 2 gigs of cloud space and nothing else. You will basically pay them to use the software you have already bought and paid for. They have a need to collect cost of the hugh storage space they had to construct for cloud and getting people to jump to the subscription plan with a low introductory offer is the way they can pay for it. Why would anyone who has PS or Lightroom pay Adobe a monthly rate to use the software they already own. The reason behind all of this is PS has leveled off and the new versions won't have enough upgrades to warrant the cost of an upgrade. <a href="http://johndoddato.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">http://johndoddato.blogspot.com/</a>

    <p>It will be more than $20 a month. That is the introductory offer if you sign up in the next month. It will require a one year contract to get the $30 per month single item like PS. Lightroom will have its own monthly fee as well according to a Adobe customer service rep I contacted. Right now if you own PS there is no advantage to sign up because they will start charging you for something you already own. If they had a brand new PS program to offer it may be a reason to consider it. But the way I read it, you sign up and get to use what you already have with a new monthly bill to pay for creative cloud. No upgrades to your current version.</p>

    <p>This will tick a lot of small photographers off for sure. I won't pay a monthly subscription for their software. This will only benefit the big users like schools and businesses. I am sure there will be taxes and all other sorts of added fees just like on a cell phone bill. So if you use PS and Lightroom, how much is that going to cost you a year? Too much for the small guy I think. <br>
