1.
here's some more from my trip to Antwerp :
.

they built a bridge across the Styx
.

forgot to check who this man was
.

here he comes....
.

  2.
the b&w is wonderful indeed. The coloured version demonstrates imo. the difficulty with natural landscapes ie. the grass begets a surrealistic tint. The pseudo hdr effects work better on streets, buildings, industrials etc.

  3.
I was in Antwerp last saturday, a very nice town :

.
reversed roles : spider gets eaten by its victim :

.
dance-battle in my favourite post-processing style :

.

  4.
@Duane:
* I used photomatix with personal settings for post-processing on 2, 3 and 4, shot wit 8mm. The first is a mix of original with a cartoon-esque filter.
* I'm baffled at the thought of being able to go iceberg-spotting ! Makes beautiful like magical pics, too.
* And yes I am also very happy with my 21 and 40 mm :)

  5.
my son of 15 really likes fast cars, so we went to such an exhibition.
One thing for sure : I have a very different view on the matter :)
.

.

.

.

.

  6.
somehow I'm glad to hear of your misfortune. Cause I'm always thinking I wil make better pictures if I pay top-price for a top-lens. Greed and/or poverty has kept me, but god knows I'been close to the edge. Your mishap has now convinced me to not buy this lens. Thanks for saving me :)
Instead I'm now thinking of a manual 50mm 1.7 for portraits, very good glass and cheap too.
And concentrate even more on my creativity, rather than my wallet.

  7.
I agree with the above, and hope to contribute.
here's e selection of recent birds :
.

I'm happy with this picture of a very shy bird, locally called : bakba tietelie

also far from perfect, but the result of much patience...
11.
the other day I was doing my first photographic walkabout and came home with half my pictures affected like the one below. Photo's were shot with pentax K5 and a Sigma 18-125mm, some in raw, some directly in jpg. Didn't use a sun-cap.
Next day I did som serious testing, but could not reproduce the same.
Problem solved, some might say, but I keep wondering.
Anyone has any thoughts on what might have caused this ?
.

  13.
I was attending a concert by dutch jazz singer Sylvie Lane with the Central Heat Big Band.
And found out it's not so easy taking these kind of pictures. Especially after I decided against using flash.
don't bother trying to translate this 'inlaatopschroefwiel', this is an ancient part of the wide spectrum in dutch water control. Shot in hdr.
maybe I shouldn't tell, but this actually is a statue of an old sailor at the harbour, looking out towards the sea.

megaliths like this one in Ireland were erected some 4-5000 years ago. It's function remains mainly guesswork. http://www.ancient-wisdom.co.uk/leylines.htm

  16.
just got back from Ireland, where my 64gb-SDcard cracked up after two day shooting....
got a modest card from the local town to comfort my bereavement

17.
After not having touched my camera for nearly three weeks,
here goes :

first an unprocessed picture (a rarity)

.
and last but not least my personal favourite

  18.
exaggeration may be a virtue alright, but would fully subject to your personal sense of 'art', we'll say. In other words : if you like the picture, everything is permissable.
Now if you want to present a picture (to a public) then it's a different story again.
I find it very difficult to believe in my own creations, if I don't get the desired feedback. Still, I'm in favour of making (the expression of) an image stronger through pp. And end up calling it an image rather than a photo :)

Might be interesting to present images here that you feel very strong about, but never got the credits ?
