Don't fuss about the rules forbidding tripods. You can't educate the

butteflies to hold still long enough anyway. I like results I got

using a flash with diffuser rather than just flash.

It's also useful for pinhole work. Saw off everything down to the

body, mount your pinhole and go to it. The advantage of this over a

hand made box is the viewfinder. There's no tripod mount but one can

be epoxied on.
