Hello,
I have a Mamiya 6 body that was part of a group purchase. I don't have any lenses for this body, and don't
really plan on entering into this system. Is there anyway to check the body to make sure it is working
without having a lens mounted to it? I don't think it is working, but it could vary well be just something I
am doing or not doing. The film advance works smoothly. Is there any value in the body if I were to just
sell it for parts anymore? Thank you for any help you might be able to give.

Hi Terry,
I have a sherpa cart that I bought a number of years ago, so I can't comment
on the current shipping times. The cart is quite nice, and was just what I was
looking for, I could strap an entire 8x10 outfit, and holders on it and walk for
hours and distances I never would have been able to without the cart. I have
both the handles, and only used the T-bar handle. The only problem I had
was the wheels don't have rim inserts, so my wheels would loose air faster
then normal, I had the inserts put in and the wheels worked fine. It is a great
cart for LF and ULF work, the base could be a bit larger, but compaired to
others using golf carts and the like, the sherpa cart is a very smooth ride.

Hello,
I am currently using a H1 with a Really Right Stuff L-bracket, on a Acratech
ball head. This combo works well with the film back, but when I need the
polaroid back on something is always in the way, it is either the L-bracket or
the ball head, and it is taking way too long to get the darn thing on. Before I
start grinding away at the ball head to make room for the polaroid back, I was
wondering for those of you who are using the H1 polaroid back -
successfully- What combo of tripod head and release system allows the
mounting and use of the polaroid back freely and most of all easily.
Thank you for any help you can give.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone out there in medium format land knows of
somewhere in the US that the are doing this type of modification to the
Flexbody front standard:
http://www.owenphotographicrepairs.com/
basically modification of the flexbody for lens plane movements. I would even
like to find someone who might have "homebrewed" this type of modification.
I appreciate your help!

Hello,
I am looking for a 6x12 Technorama, and was wondering if I
could get some opinions from those of you who own one
currently. Is the viewfinder acceptable, Is there any way at all to fit
a small ground glass on it (before loading of course). Thoughts
on portability etc. Feel free to email me off list if you are more
comfortable. Thank you for any and all help!

Hello,
I have just aquired a used Horseman SW612 without any
instruction book. On the 65mm lens the shutter preview lever
( which allows opening and closing of the shutter for ground
glass viewing) seems to be non-operational, it can't be moved
up or down to open or close the shutter - is this normal on all
SW612's? While I have been using the T setting to focus on the
ground glass - I was just wondering if this is a design
obstruction of the Shutter preview lever.
Thanks for any help in advance.

I just wanted to add that I have visited Jay Allen's site on the
subject of SF lenses and found it quite helpful. Also I forgot to
ask if anyone is currently selling a SF lens please contact me.
Thanks again!

I am looking for older portrait lenses that would fit on a 4x5, I had
a kodak portrait lens but during a weaker moment sold it, so I
am familiar with the effect of that lens. I am looking for
something similar but, maybe a little stronger effect. Is anyone
familar with Pinkham/Smiths or Cooke lenses and the effects
they have? Any suggestions for vintage lens other then the ones
listed? Anyone know of a source for these types of lenses, I
have tried Lens and Repro, and everyother major store as well
as Ebay, but I thought somebody might know of an obscure
source. Thanks for your help!!

Hello- I need to create a classic "orthochormatic" look on
Panochromatic film (Tri-X) like the work of Atget, Watkins etc.
Does anyone have any filter suggestions? I am thinking a heavy
minus red filter (any number suggestions?), but was wondering
if anyone has gone in this direction. Please don't suggest that I
simply use Ortho film in camera, because that is not an option.
Thanks for any help!!

I am looking for a working 7x17 camera and holders, does any
one know of an outfit for sale? The camera doesn't have to be a
museum piece, but the holders need to be in good shape.
Thanks for your help!

I am about to purchase a Schn. 110XL lens and while playing
with it in the store I noticed the filter threads are inset in to the
lens. Is anybody using a clear filter to protect the front element? I
quickly tried screwing in a tiffen filter (67mm) and it did not go on.
But the Calumet filter ring did. If you were to place a filter on the
front would that vignette. Any thoughts or better brand names
would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.
Help with Mamiya 6 Body
in Medium Format
Posted
Thank you Jay, and Paul. I was afraid I needed a lens to really see if it is working, thank you
for confirming this. Has anyone sent a Mamiya 6 body into Mamiya service recently? I am
wondering if there is charge for looking it over, or if they are even working on them anymore.
Thank you again!
