I just received my digital rebel from an ebay auction. When I bought
it, I knew that it wasnt working properly, but suspected that I could
fix the problem if the trouble was as decribed in the auction. Well
upon inspection I have found that the trouble is that the shutter
curtain catches on the lip of the mechanism every time it tries to
close. It will easily spring back into place with just a touch, but
will catch again on the very next press of the shutter. AND if its
NOT reset before each shot, the next image will be black, as the
shutter wont move at all. Obviously this sounds like an issue for the
service dept. Trouble is, I dont have an original sales receipt to
show when it was purchaed, and without it I may have to pay full
price to get it fixed.
Here are my questions:
1- does anyone know any other way to determine the age of the camera
and/or how best to deal with the warranty dept?
2- Has anyone else had this problem and either know how to fix it, or
what it would cost for Canon to fix it?
3- Are there any other options?
Thanks,
Michael
