  1. <p>I had has exactly the same issue but after studying the manual and playing with the lens I think I now understand what is going on.<br>

    If you remove the lens from the camera you can open the aperture manually by carefully moving the slider on the round silver plate that connects to the camera. You will notice the slider is spring loaded so the lens stops down to f/22 unless the slider is pushed, only then does it open. When you set the lock on the lock ring to f/22 you are locking the ring so it doesn't move but you are NOT locking the aperture! The slider is allowed free movement so it simply returns to is rest position at f/22. The camera can freely push the slider to where the camera sets it or to where you tell the camera you want it to be. Nothing is broken!<br>

    You do have manual control just not via the manual aperture ring on the lens. Hope this helps :0)</p>
