  1. A very simple question : with a Mamiya 6 and the 50 mm I want to take a personn who is pointing the lens with his arm. I am on diaph 11 at the minimun distance of 1 meter; do I have to make the focus on the face and then the 1st plan will be sharp or on the opposite do I have to focus on the 1st plan (the hand) and the 2nd will be sharp ?????

  2. In term of degrees i can't say but the ratio that has been given to you is correct . The 50 mm has a minimum focus of 1 meter wich not enough. But the result with the 35 mm is very intresting and can be easely print with a standard dark room. Try it ! ...
  3. I have used the Pentax 67 in Cambodia, and the Mamiya 6 MF in India and I am still using an old Rolleiflex in Paris. My point of view is that the Mamiya is the only camera that give you the opportunitie to travel since it's a very small and discreet camera (a bit less for the 7). You can change film very easily and fast. The telemetric focus give you the most precize focus but is a bit slow at the beginning. For the minimum distance, you can compensate with the depth.

Using a 150 mm seems to be like the 135 mm on leica, you don't get the entire negative on the viewver; some people get used to, for my self I don't.

I think this camera is exellent for what you intend to do ... untill another one better appear.

  4. I have been to the web site of Mamiya (www.mamiya.com) and noticed

that there were a company name NPC Corporation who was selling a Polaroid back for Mamiya 6 and 7. This back can be installed in place of the roll film back door and cannot be removed in mid roll.

Did anybody used this Back with the 6 MF ?

  5. The overexposure technical can only be used with negatives.

With Black & White Film the number of gray scale will depend of the film developpment. If you want further informations, read the exellent book fronm Ansel Adams "the Zone System". It describes all the interaction between exposure-film and grey scale with time developpment and so on.

With colour film, I have just remarq that the temperature colour was a bit warmer.

  6. I am interresting by using the B&W Polaroid Film wich provide negative. Is it compicated ? Do I Have to make a different exposure to have the same grey scale (like kodak 5) ? What are the principal differences with the clasissical film like T-MAX 100 or FP4 125 ?
  7. I would like to buy a second Mamiya 6 MF, but since the prices in France are about 30% higher, I wonder if somebody could geive me serious and good adresses of Shop in New York where I could I find occasion.
