Try to upload again

still practicing....hopefully this closer to the effect that I am looking for

Yes i specifically changed the focal point to do an off center shot. Other than that nothing else was changed. Everything was
auto.

I use the LCD screen to view on my subject then focus in until it looks clear and then I take the picture. I have always used the LCD because it seems to be a more realistic view of how the final picture will turn out as far as how much backround etc will be in the picture. I just dont seem to quite get how my focus seems clear when I shoot, however like you have all seen the pictures are still fuzzy. Yes I agree some are camera shake for lack of using my tripod, but some shots dont seem to have camera shake.

I will have to check on how to set my focal point on my t2i. I pray its not mechanical because the camera is only a month
old. I thought I had his eyes in the little red box when i pressed the shutter. I did notice though the the red box is always
in the middle even when I would prefer an off center shot, making my focal point unchangeable. I was kind of annoyed
at this. I dont sappose you know why this happens? Id like to take my camera to a professional in my area and maybe
they could take a look at my settings. Im so frustrated lol. I really appreciate your feedback and time. Your a huge help.
Thanks so much.

just purchased the 50mm 1.4 ...hope I like it better than the kit lense. I also have an EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 lense. Not sure how that one works out for portraiture.

original picture of my son straight out of the camera shot in RAW with no editing

I see what your saying. I am still shooting with the kit lense which I know isnt the highest quality portrait lense. That being said, what would the proper settings be while using that lense as far as aparture and ISO? Also, can anyone recommend a decent portrait lense that wont break my budget? Id like to stay around $500.00 or less if possible. I also did not use a tripod for this shot. Forgot to grab it but because it was only practice session, I know that camera shake plays a HUGE part in causing blur. I will upload the original RAW when I get home from work today, with NO editing. Maybe we can get a better feel for what is truely taking place.....Thanks

Thanks to all of you for your ideas and critisism. Everything is helpful. First I wasnt shooting in raw...which has nothing to do with the blur, however is easier to edit. Second my shutter speed was set very low which I changed to 1/60 and lastly I never considered using a tripod which I will definately use now. My normaal workflow was to open the file in CS6, adjust hue and saturation levels, white balance, and croping. I have also played with the blur gallery. I have never resized the image for an enlarged print, nor have I ever tweaked the sharpness. I simply shot in JPG at the portrait setting on my camera, uploaded the memory card into my picture library, and then open in cs6 and play. I then save as JPEG and upload to my lab. Sounds like a hot mess huh?! I bet you are thinking the same thing.

Will photoshop work for sharpening?

Thank you. I have a canon rebel T2i and im not sure how to adjust the size but I can read the owners manual. I also realized that I am shooting in JPG instead of RAW which I was told was a no no. ? I photoshop a lot of my portraits before submiting them to print, Is there a way to increase the size that way or is it better to do it within my camera?

Hello, I am a fairly new photographer, Can someone PLEASE tell me why my photos are crystal clear on my DSLR screen, clear when I download them, and even clear on proof paper or size 4x6. However, anything over that when I get my pictures back from the lab they are blurry. I cant sell a blurry 8X10 to my clients. HELP! I havent got a clue what to do.

Thanks a million

In some of the pictures I have seen with other photographers I have noticed that they're senior portraits have a soft effect or soft hue to them, yet they are still clear pictures. How can I obtain this effect in my senior portraits? I have used the Gaussian Blur, but there seems to be just a little something missing yet after I do my editing in PS. Any advise?

Thank You
