Not the greatest perspective of a very beautiful old light house. Good light though. Try not to center the subject matter. Step back and capture more of the lovely surroundings. I have shot this place quite a few times, see image above.

recropped

I attempted to recrop. By adjusting the perspective of the stones, the steeple leans. The stones are on a small hill, everything leans in this disturbing fashion. The image below is recropped and lightened a bit.

absolutely love it. Great execution, creation. It's wonderful when all the elements come together, as they do here

We are all at various levels in photography Mr Malcomson. Criticism needs to be constructive my friend. Why can't you explain why this particular image doesn't work for you, rather than "bash" the student? Point out what improvements might "add" something to the piece. Stephen is learning Photography and you as a photographer are setting an example for all of us.

I love that bug shot. It reminds me of the blood-sucking mosquito that he is, makes me laugh everytime I see it. Leave it up here for like ever.

LMAO. I'll edit the comments in a few days, don't worry

Holy Contrast!

were you sleepy or drunk? The horizon is a bit off-kilter, eh?

Steve,
I remember this project. You had to stay in one location, one perspective and blow through a bunch of film. The image needs a stronger focal point. My eyes move back and forth from the tree-tops in the forground to the silhouette in mid-frame. I'd like to see a tighter shot of either the silhouette area, especially with fog/mist or just a tight shot of the reflection itself. I know right where you stood for this shot. I believe that there is a wooden platform that piers out onto the pond.

Hey, I recognize this place, even as an eastcoaster. i think i have the positive image to your negative, check it out:

Excellent balance of multiple lightsources. Great composition too

No Photoshop here !! Everything was done in-camera.

very saturated. the sky is on fire. I think however, I'd like to see the sun a bit more off-center.
-
wow.

Nice shot. I think however, I'd like to see the butterfly slightly off-center.

Thanks everyone for the excellent feedback. I scanned the negative on the Imacon Flextight Precision 2. The low-contrast profile matches my output device. It actually looks decent on the G-4 monitor, much flatter on the PC though. Here's a tweeked version without having to re-scan on this monster-of-a-scanner:

Found this surreal ancient aqueduct on the Delaware/Raritan canal
near Princeton.
For the novice, this is not Photoshop. It is Infrared film, drum-
scanned as an RGB Positive. The sepia effect came natural. There is
absolutely no Photoshop manipulation here folks.

This is Infrared film folks, not Photoshop !
The negative was drum-scanned as an RGB file. The sepia effect came natural to the scan. There is no manipulation.
