I've read that the C series lenses for Hasselblads will be a thing of
the past soon as repair parts are running out and are not going to be
made available any longer. Does anyone know how long parts for the
CF series are going to available. I've just started in MF and Can't
afford many new CFi and CFe lenses. However, I don't want to buy
lenses that I can't get repaired in a few years either! Any
responses, comments, references, or other information would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks........Mike

Very much thanks to you who answered my query. Although now I'm not looking forward to getting my first few rolls back. I guess thats how to learn though. I'll read some more threads here and find some books on light reading and go back to work to try to understand this facet of photography.
Again, many thanks to those who answered.......

For some time now I've taken my 35mm gear with me to work to record
some of the "more memorable" moments that occur there. I work
outdoors w/high voltage equipment and some real interesting sights
occur occasionally.
I've recently purchased a Hasselblad 501 cm kit w/ a few extra
acessories and a sekonic 508 spot/ambient light meter.
A few days ago, some of the men on my crew had the opportunity to use
some rather large earth moving equipment in preparation for an
upcoming high voltage cable installation job. I wanted to record the
progression of work in MF. As I prepared the camera and film backs I
wondered which function of the sekonic meter was going to give me the
most accurated reading for exposure. I was a day of rapidly changing
lighting situations. First sunny and then totally overcast. I tried
spot metering of the equipment itself for some tight shots, and then
went to ambient measurement just to see if the two readings would
match. They didn't. I've mostly relied on the spot function of this
meter since I've purchased the Hasselblad, but I've not had any of my
exposed film developed yet. Can someone tell me which method, spot
or ambient, should have been used to determine exposures in this
situation. Any instruction, opinions, ideas, or even a verbal
flogging would be greatly appreciated........
Thanks

Thanks to all that responded. I think I've made the right decision with the Proxars.
Your time, opinions, and responces are very much appreciated.

I am new to MF but learning quickly. I've read this forum for many
months and tried some mf gear before deciding on Hasselblad.
I've made my lense choices but now am adding accessories. In
particular, Proxar close up adapters. I don't want to invest in
extension tubes right now. My quuestion is this. Proxars are listed
as F=0.5M T* and similar. Basically, what does this mean.
I see they are readily available used and not terrible expensive, but
I don't want to buy several just to get the one or two I would use.
I'd like to be able to make a 150 Sonnar focus slightly closer.
(Portraits) and possibly make a Tele 350 mm focus up to abt 2.5 or
3 ft.. Any suggestions or ideas would be a great help and as always
will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.......Mike

I'm new to MF. I'm trying to learn to take my time and "create
images" with a true understanding of how things work. I no longer
want to rely on automatic "gadgets". I recently puchased a new
Hasselblad 501 cm to begin my education.
I like to take wildlife pictures (outdoors at varying distances) as
well as informal shots of my family and occasionally a formal
portrait. My film choice is Velvia for outdoors and NPH or NPS for
indoors. My wildlife shots may be at any time of day or night and my
inside shots are taken in average to not so good incandescant home
lighting. Is there a "one works for everything" flash, or would two
different flashes produce the best results?
Any opinions or ideas would be greatly appreciated
Thanks........Mike

Colm,
I just "joined" the Hasselblad family today with the purchase of a new 501 C/M, A12, and 80mm lense. I checked my A12 back and it does exactly as you described yours. I'm not an authorized Hasselblad nut yet, but I too think this is normal.

Thanks to all who responded to my question. Bill, I'm new to MF and Hasselblad. My question obviously upset you? Where I work, If you don't know about something, you either ask or you could end up dead or seriously injured. Asking is a habit for me. I checked the "new" and the "hasselblad" archives and found very little that dealt with my question. Had I found more than one "thread" I would have never asked the question. Also, being new to Hasselblad, I had no idea at all that someone from Hasselblad USA would actually bother to answer an e-mail from someone they've never even heard of. My fault. Try asking Nikon a question and see what you get! We all have to start somewhere!......
Thanks again to all........Mike
