Oh boy here is how I have been capturing my photos onto this MAC.
1 plug in my SD card into the MAC
2 use "image capture" to get the photos onto the MAC
3 at this point they are in my photo icon where is promos me to import images
4 at this point the images are still in RAW format
5 remove my SD card
6 plug in my external drive and open it
7 click on my photos in the photo icon and copy them to paste in the external drive
8 once copied they somehow are always jpeg files!

My computer has run out of hard drive, so I wanted to move my photos to an external drive. The problem is the files change from RAW to JPEG! I don't want that I want to keep them in RAW format. Any suggestions? Very new to this Mac system. Thank you for any advice you might have!!!

I am often intrigued by the clarity and the use of low light in nude photography. This is something I have yet to attain. Any advice would be helpful!! My equipment is A Nikon 5100 and continuous lighting, I do not own A Photoshop program ,,, yet!!

Sorry I wasn't more clear, my main goal is portraiture with an emphasis on low key lighting. I have watched some you tube clips but I think more of starting from beginner to advanced would be nice, more of a structured approach. I have read a few books on the matter but actually watching an explanation of the steps and working with the equipment would be a good perspective.

Can anyone recommend a good DVD on studio photography? I just don't have the cash for a college or on-line school yet.

Art, Its made me hate the thought of it for decades. At times I craved its resistance only to fear its demand. I grew up in abstraction hearing the names of Motherwell and Pollack. Looking at my dads paintings and not understanding a thing of what I saw. I drifted to the music of Oscar Peterson, Bob Dylan, Led Zepplin and lets not forget Gordon Lightfoot or Joan Biaz!! Vogue magazines and fashion illustration from my moms side of the painting world. I cant forget the openings of all the art shows that I went to when I was in my early teens. Nothing seem to make sense!! F'n art I don't need it! One day you wake up and find your dad in a coffin your mom losses her personality and the vacuum of your soul is trapped. Empty studios of charcoal and canvass, paint that is dry in the jar. You see in the mirror a self portrait of a half breed! Working in a conservative life of structure and checklists, all the while the wolf of creativity lingers. For the first time you actually understand what a shadow means to the cast of light or a blood stain on virgin snow. I may never create art but I did exist in its crystal palace a very long time ago. So I humbly put before you all nothing but my eye to this world.

So here I am. I have had this desire to be a photographer. I have made a career in another field which I no longer enjoy. The kids are gone and I will not be able to retire. Okay I'm fine with that but how do I support myself? Ah my dream of Boudoir Photography! Well is there room for me in this field? With everybody owning a DSLR can I fit? Starting from a small piece of rock will I find a way to identify myself. Let me know people! I lived my whole childhood in the art world (parents both artist) after seeing what it did to my dad I repelled against it! I can no longer turn away, but I feel this is a commitment to suicide! Only self taught I am compelled to at least take a correspondence course, this digital medium is all new! I have access to 40 acres of land with a barn, studio and forest the setting is um pretty good but i'm not a pro. My focus is to make women smile and feel good about them selves! That little black dress, the loss of weight or the gaining of inner strength!!! I just don't have a clue how warm the waters are out there. Your opinions would mean a lot to me! Thank you for taking the time to read this!!!!
