1.
You might find this article interesting, on write speeds, with a chart. http://blog.davidburren.com/2011/02/cf-card-speeds-7d-and-5dmkii.html
I'm sure this isn't gospel, but will give you an idea on the vast speeds of different cards. IMO, if you're going to get serious and shoot venues, buy the best card you can possibly afford with the assumption as you're skill increases, and that 100K a year starts rolling in, you will get an even faster one or several.

 2.
Try decreasing the image file size in the camera and try a dozen or so shots. If it's the buffer, it will zoom right through those, smaller files transfer faster. Then go back to the largest file size, and if it chokes, it's probably the card choking. Not all cards are up to the task. I have a 1 gig class 6 Kingston, that is as fast as some 8 gig Sony class 10's I use for example (sd cards). YMMV

 3.
You're firing the 580 from wireless built in the 7D. I looked and the models of 5D I looked at, didn't have this feature, wireless firing. He could go several ways on strobing, it really depends on finances and determination. Also whether he wants a mobile setup or studio type setup. I mentioned the Kings, because he might not have hundreds to drop into Canon appliances to get to a level he wants to go too. I think we all would love to have all Canon stuff, but if a cheaper option gets you there, go for it, at least until the ultimate goal is determined and funds allow. Really just depends on his goals.

 4.
Check into Pixel Kings, a much cheaper alternative. Just make sure they will work with you're camera, some 1D's had issues, some were reporting. I use them on a T1i, with a 430EXII on the wireless receiver with a Neewer 560 optically triggered flash, off to the side if needed. They work like a champ for me for full TTL control.

 5.
The fact the ball was dropped has been discussed at length. Helen has admitted this. To continue to flog this dead horse is rather naive'. I took up for Adorama, just as he has the right to publicly flog them. Don't try to turn this on me lol, old forum rouse. Now you want to step in complaining he was out equipment. Pony up, send him a camera, since he is a contributing member to this site, haha, or maybe you know him via some other site? Thats' why he hasn't posted anything else. EVERY professional photographer I know of, has a backup. Even if it's an old XS. Some eve have triple backup. The guy was playing the odds on selling his, and buying something else in a specific time frame. I assume that's why he's mad, the holdup cost him another deal. Maybe you can ask him?

 6.
At least 3 of your 12 total PNET posts are in support of Adorama?
And at least one of you'res is about me? 401 posts in 6 years? I've been here for awhile, most of the time I read and learn without logging in. I don't feel the need to post on every thread. Some do, I don't. One thing I've learned in the last few years, you get three photographers in one room, you'll have three differant opinions about the same picture. Same holds on this situation, everyone has an opinion, and they aren't afraid to share it. Seriously, when the OP is complaining he doesn't have a tracking number on a Sunday, really??. I guess the makes me the same, opinionated and vocal. I don't like B&W images, so by the swing of things I can feel free to diss them. I actually felt empathy for the OP, until he kept going on and on, blah blah. I hope he took in the time differance from his ship too and Adorama. To continue to harp on this AFTER Helen was on it, was petty imo. That's the bottom line, there's my opinion lol. Just saying

 7.
Great responses here lol. I keep a Sony T70 around for the family and friends. It does, ok, and if it's lost, dropped or stolen, I'm only out a $100 bucks or so. I had a friend going to the Beck thing in Dallas awhile back, I loaned the Sony to her. Her comment was "I wish I could could borrow you're Cannon". I chuckled and said "the learning curve was pretty steep on it". As I set the Sony to easy mode for her and showed her where the shutter button was. She got back and was thrilled at the shots.

 8.
Great thread, lots of great knowledge here. Oddly enough, it was overcast here this weekend, and sitting outside, I was going through my mind on how I would shoot something in it. The picture honestly doesn't look "that" bad, but you will be doing some work in Adobe to correct slight "opps". You might want to crop and level, while you're working the image, everyone is going to spill over the left edge at some point lol.

I would isolate the images like this, build a preset in LR (really easy) and apply it across those, to get close to what you need, then fine tune each image in turn.

 9.
Clinton, you won't be getting a tracking number on a Sunday, Most shippers DON'T ship on Sundays, thus a tracking number WILL NOT be issued until open of business day Monday. REREAD the previous sentence. Secondly, to continue to claim "scam", you're integrity is pretty much shot, at least with me. The fact you made an account, just to diss Adaorama here, says volumes. EVEN after Helen has admitted mistakes, and moved quickly to rectify. To continue to run on about this, is humorous at best, ludicrous at worst. I read thru the other forum, seems not much joy for you there either. Tuesday, be sure and let everyone know if you got the camera, that's only fair since you have been so vocal about this. I doubt serious if Adorama NEEDS you're stuff to continue business, much less to try to scam you on it.
I, for one, will continue to do business with them, as I have seen in the past, and personally experienced, great service. YMMV of course.

 10.
I guess some people never take vacations. I have, starting a week to two weeks before hand, it's a mad rush to get stuff covered, so you can somewhat reasonably take some personal time. Starting a day or two before you get back, the dread already starts on what awaits you when you walk in. I can only imagine the week before @ Adorama, as customers are in a mad rush to get their orders in and processed, so they are in the mail before the last working day. I going to assume this, fell in "there". It does sound like the ball was dropped, but I have yet to see anyone not do this. My last job, it took me a month to train my replacement, lol. And I still got phone calls for weeks afterwards on where something was or who to call for this issue.
Not complicated, if he was the only customer. It does sound like the ball was dropped, but Helen again is trying to rectify it, and my hats off to her for that, I'm sure overnighting wasn't cheap, for only fair in this case. I would imagine Helen is a CSR, because of the hundreds of transactions they do weekly and she's the go to person, when things get hosed. As they sometimes do.
I have bought from B&H before myself, and yes, for a straight forward purchase, I was disappointed in shipping. My last order from B&H took almost 9 days. My last purchase from Adorama actually arrived two days early, nice. I would have bought my triggers there, if they would have had them in the store. In fact, I checked there first...
I personally think jumping across two forums to post stuff like this, is sad. But you're only three posts are in this thread? Just saying.

 11.
After going the "dumb" trigger and cabled TTL route for my Canon, I broke down and bought some Pixel Kings, just to try. They support ETTL II, and FEB, flash exposure bracketing, on the 580's from what i understand, but I'm using 430 EX II's. Couldn't be happier, so nice to control the flash strength from the camera, wirelessly.

 12.
Thank you Helen, I just saw this thread and was going to encourage the OP to call you directly. No doubt in my mind you'll take care of this.
I had my own shipping failure from Amazon this last week, Fed Ex handed off a package to my local USPS Friday morning. I waited until Monday evening, watching the tracking number. It shows package being at the post office, but there it went cold. I called them Tuesday morning and a search ensued, actually two, the first came up empty. Finally the employee came back and said they had found it, who knows where, and it was available. I picked it up Tuesday afternoon, and Wednesday morning, the tracking still showed incomplete. Once before I had Fed EX change the ship too address to one I hadn't lived at in almost 3 years, where the package vanished. It took a month, but the shipper reimbursed me for the purchase. Haha, I even had a UPS employee straight tell me on the phone, they didn't deliver to USPS, as I was looking at the UPS tracking numbers showing the handoff, lol. This just shows, mess ups can happen anywhere and no one shipper is immune. Helen will get you fixed up.

 13.
Pixel DS-801 PF-801 Pixel Grouping Componor
Ok, finally had more time to play with this. It WILL do E-TTL on any of the three ports, but you have to select which one, with the selector switch on the back of the transmitter, (the A/B/C switch) A makes the A port E-TTL, B makes the B port E-TTL. etc. Since I only have one flash mount, though I have two cables and speedlights, a 430 EX and a 430EXII, I made a extra 25 foot cat 5 that works fine, I'm unable to check if more than one port will simultaneously support E-TTL. Well anyway, I put the trigger name to help others find this thread a little easier, hope this helps.

 14.
Lol, glad I found this thread thanks for saving me the wear and tear of discovery. I just got one of these today for off cam hand held shooting. Yes, the manufacturer needs to update the description to include the fact that only one port is ETTL supported. I wonder why all three ports won't do this? Interference maybe? But anyway thanks all.
