1.
I've had my 5DIII for about four months. Today, I went out to take some night shots and when I imported them through bridge, I noticed in all of my night shots a purple dot. I zoomed in more and noticed it is a purple pixel.
I've taken less than 1200 shots with it and already there is a "dead" pixel (I'm assuming).
Then, I shot some pics inside my house and also noticed that when I shot pictures on somewhat dark colors, the purple dot/pixel appears.
I have warranty for it. I'm thinking of bringing it in to get a replacement for it.
Has anyone had a similar problem with it? Is there a new software update for the 5DIII?
I need advice. It's a four month old camera. There shouldn't be any problems with it.

 2.
I fully appreciate everyone's response, they have been helpful. After reading every response I went out to a camera store to try out the 70-200mm f/2.8. I loved it. The pictures were sharp and the lens was fast. I'm fully committed into buying this lens. But after much thought and re-reading the responses I don't think the 200mm will be enough for photographing the shuttle from the distance I've calculated I will be standing at when it arrives. I decided I'm going to either rent the 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM or 400mm f/4 DO IS USM from borrowlenses.com and buy the 70-200mm to add to my collection.

Thanks for your responses.

 3.
I'm looking to buy a telephoto lens for my 5DIII. I'm new to Canon, just switched from Nikon. I've only been using prime lens lately. I'm looking to purchase my first telephoto lens.
I live in Los Angeles and the Space Shuttle Endeavor will be arriving in September and I would like to take photos mid air. I've been looking at Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II.

Which lens would you recommended.

 4.
I made the transition. Sold my Nikon D300 and bought myself the all glorious Canon 5D Mark III. I don't regret it one bit. I'm still learning as it has different buttons but it is awesome.
Being new to Canon, the first lens I bought was the Canon EF 50mm 1.4USM. It is sharp and fast. It's my first lens but not my last.

I mainly do landscape photography but on occasion some portrait work too. My question is, which would be a good portrait lens for indoors. I mostly work with natural light.

And, I also need some suggestion for landscape lenses.

I'm asking for help because I know nothing about Canon lenses but I'm beyond excited and happy that I made the transition from Nikon to Canon.
