With my 28-300 I am seeing softness across the zoom range even with VR on, on a tripod, remote shutter trip, manual focus or AF. I guess it's just because it is a super zoom and that's as good as it gets. Not as clear as my prime lenses.

Thank you Shun, that is exactly what I am seeing without the vignetting reduction turned on.

Thank you. With D700 set to Vignetting control High the problem is much reduced.

Is anyone else seeing vignetting on the 28-300 Nikkor? Mine is a brand new lens, shooting with a D700, and there is significant vignetting at longer focal lenghts even at f/8. As I reduce the zoom the effect gets lessened until at about 50 mm it is gone. Need to know if all 28-300 show this or if my lens is defective. Thanks.

Self Timer
in Nikon

On the D700, how does one shoot multiple frames with the self timer as the trigger? Seems like one needs to select either the self timer mode or the CL mode, but how do you select both? Thanks.
-

Thanks all for very helpful responses.

I have an old Nikkormat FTN from the late 1960's. Is there a way to get the lenses for that camera to work on a modern era digital (eg D700)?

Thank you everyone for your responses and discussion. It sounds like the FX cameras are made in Japan, as is the D300.

Does anyone know which Canon DSLR's are still made in Japan?
