If Robert Frank were offered the use of a modern camera, I'm sure he would at least consider it. Hemingway could have written "Old Man and the Sea" with any #2 pencil, but that doesn't make spell-check a useless tool.
Personally, I'd like to see those pictures that Sarah Fox might make, if the technology were available.

Best: ts-e 17
Worst? Can't say. Even the Sigmas I've tried have been not bad.
Wait, there's a humor section?

If I stop down to f4 or so, I've gotten good results with the Zeiss 21 2.8 and the 35 2.0, on my 5D3, using focus confirmation. You start to get a feel for it after a bit of use. I would not be too quick to mess with the screen. FWIW, AF is not always perfect either.

I hate a DSLR with video function and look like all dslr today have this function.

The OP perhaps meant "have," not "hate."

+1 what Jim said. Canvas bags are bad for long term storage because they tend to pull moisture out of the air. Your equipment is better off in a desk or closet.

You may still have the occasional issue with tracking; I haven't tried the sigma so I can't compare. I can only say that focus with the 85 1.2 is MUCH better with the Mk 3 than it was with the Mk 2. And, if you like the look, nothing else really compares. I recommend you rent one. It's the only way to be sure.

"I have had a most rare vision. I have had a dream past the wit of man to say what dream it was. Man is but an ass if he go about t'expound this dream. Methought I was — there is no man can tell what. Methought I was, and methought I had — but man is but a patched fool if he will offer to say what methought I had. The eye of man hath not heard, the ear of man hath not seen, man's hand is not able to taste, his tongue to conceive, nor his heart to report what my dream was. I will get Peter Quince to write a ballad of this dream. It shall be called 'Bottom's Dream', because it hath no bottom, ... " — Bottom

Thanks! That's perfect!

Bet you're re-thinking that now, huh Matthew?

+1 what Mr. Kleso said. WD Green in an outboard docking station, if it's for back up. Use Black if you want to read the files on a regular basis. Either would be less than $200.

Often it's about committing enough time to a scene for a composition to reveal itself. Normal life doesn't allow time to dwell on things. There is pressure to keep moving. So you have to work at it, and hope your friend is sympathetic.

If you want it to fit in carry-on, you may have to consider only 4 section legs. I can recommend the Induro for weight/sturdiness, but my experience is only with the 3 section CT-213.

I just bought an Induro, the CT213 (3 section legs), and their BHD2 ballhead, as an upgrade from Manfrotto/Bogen. I'm also 5'9" and the combined height is perfect for me, without any center extension. The angle locking mechanism on the legs looked a little funky to me at first, but they work, and after 2 weeks I couldn't be happier with the combination of steadiness and light weight. For less than $600.

The Photographer's Ephemeris software for Ipad. Geeky program that tells you when and where the sun will rise or set over your particular sand dune. Great for planning your vacation landscapes, works well with Google maps, and is just fun to play with!

That's great! I love it!

I've used both the Canon 24-70 and the 24-105 with a 5D2 and I prefer the 24-70 for its slightly better image quality and speed. It is heavier, though, and the 24-105 has IS, which somewhat makes up for the slower speed. Also, it is lighter and makes a nice walk around lens. I think you can't go wrong with either. I have no experience with the Tamron, though. Hope this helps.

You can have a better system for the money by shopping on-line suppliers like Tiger Direct and doing the assembly yourself. Buy parts that have rebates; get the best video card you can; get an SSD drive for the OS and programs and a SATA Hard Drive for storage. Assembly is not hard. I built a PC for CS6 and added a Blue-Ray writer and fancy cooling system and came in at about $1100 after rebates.
Plus I feel pretty good about having put it together myself. And it works.

Looks like a large softbox or window, lit through a diffusing screen. The flowers are beautiful but also so perfect, every imperfection edited out. I wonder if she applied the same technique to her bio image.
