1. I'm not a pro by any means, but I can see all of the noise in this shot, and several other shots, and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I had to use my 35mm lens because of the very limited space we were shooting in. I have it set at f8.0, ISO 200, 1/125th. with an Alien Bee strobe. I can't remember if I was using a shoot through umbrella, or a silver foil faced one. But I do know that I can see tons of digital noise on several photos. I also cropped this photo to focus on my model. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated. IMG_9629-2.thumb.jpg.74094be9d409d4b69dc9ecccb4858e96.jpg
  2.
Can anyone tell me how this was done, or direct me to a Video or something to explain to me how to do this. I've had people tell me this was 'High Key', which I can see, but I didn't get anything like this in 'High Key', to actually come out looking like this. Reminds me of a Poster I had on my wall when I was a teenager back in the 70's. But I really would like to learn how to do something like this.

  3.
I wonder if someone might be able to help me with a Speedlite problem. I have 2-540EZ's that I use to remotely trigger from my 400D (Rebel xTI). They are just cheap triggers and remote bought off of eBay, but they worked for what I needed them to work for.
Now I have a 5D original, and I can't get the Lites to fire remotely. I know the SL's and remotes are still working, because I've checked them on the 400D, but they won't remotely fire from my 5D. I don't know if I need to change something in the settings, or these Lites are incompatible with the 5D.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  4.
Can someone please recommend a decent large format home printer to print photos for under $500.00. I often have prints made up to sizes 10x13 to 16x20. I think by the time I pay third party printers, like MPIX for their printing and shipping fees, I may be better off printing them myself to save some money. Last year I spent over $3000.00 from other printers printing my work and shipping it. I think I would like to try and print my own images, and just package them and ship them from home. Any recommendations are sincerely appreciated. Thank you.

  5.
Can someone give me some helpful insight on a good lens to use for taking a full body shot of a person? I have a Canon 5D, and have an opportunity to attend a workshop shooting swimsuits. I would like to be able to shoot full body shots, clear, and without any distortions.
All advice is greatly appreciated.

  6. I've been trying my hand at a 70-200 f4 IS USM lens on my 5D, but don't seem to be doing very good. The photos seem to be coming out

OK, but as I zoom in on something, they start blurring. I'm sure that is not supposed to happen is it? I can't upload any photos to show

you because my computer is shot. Can anyone give me an idea of what I am doing wrong.

I was shooting at a Cemetery, bright sunny day, had my ISO at 100, changed my settings from f10 - f22, walking from sunshine into

shadows back into sunshine. I had the IS on, because I do not have the steadiest hands. Any thoughts?

  7.
I have an original 5D, and am wanting to either upgrade my camera to a 6D, or buy a 70-200 f/4 lens. As much as I wish I could do both, unfortunately, I can only do one or the other. My 5D is a pretty decent camera, even though my best lens is a simple 50mm 1.8. So if I do go with the 6D, again the 50mm would be my best lens. And I have heard nothing but good about the 70-200.
I am not a professional, but I do have an undying love of photography. I shoot anything and everything, and am always open to learning more. So basically, this is my question; Would you upgrade from a 5D to a 6D, or would you spend some money on a premium lens, a 70-200 f/4 IS?
Any advice or help woyld be truly appreciated, as I am ready to pull the trigger on one or the other. Thanks all. Ron

  8.
I have a Canon 400D, that I have had since brand new, and I am ready to move up to something newer/more advanced. I am not a professional, but I do shoot as often as possible, so I am pretty fair for an amateur. I mostly shoot people, but also do general photography, inside in a studio and outside on location.
My question is this; "If I can afford one or the other, should I invest in a new camera, or a new lens"? I'm wanting either a Canon 5D Mark II, or a premium lens, like a 50 or 85mm 1.2. I have a 24-105mm IS USM that I use for a general walk-around lens, so that is why I'm wanting a new prime lens.
I'm wanting a good fast lens that will take good crisp shots of people, and even though my 400D takes good photos, and I know I can put a new lens on it, I don't want to spend that much on a new lens, and end up having more lens then I should for a camera of the size I have. I hope that makes sense.
Any help or advice would truly be appreciated.

  9.
I was looking at a Photography website and someone had mentioned using a speedlite(s) outside when shooting in the sunlight. It wasn't a Q&A forum, so there was no link for me to ask, sooooooo, can anyone tell me why a person would use speedlites outdoors in the sunshine? I'm confused about this because I've never known it to be done. Can anyone please help and tell me the purpose of this?
Thanks in advance for your help. Ron

  10.
I shoot with a Canon 400D, and I absolutely love to shoot people and closeup head shot portraits.
I have been wanting to invest in a good portrait lens. Someone told me to look into a 35mm 1.4, so I did a little reading and read somewhere that it is the lens that takes the sharpest (tack sharp I think it said) portraits of any prime on the market. Of course, another article claimed it was the 50mm 1.2
I know every lens has its pros and cons, but I would really love to get one that will make me feel I've made the right choice. I do know that both of these lenses are high quality prime lenses and shoot good images, but I do not want to center on someones nose, and have it start to blur around the outside of their hair or on their chin.
I would really love a lens that takes tack sharp photos, and these two are close to the same price, and I know they are both excellent primes. If anyone is able to help with some experienced advice, I would truly appreciate it.

  11.
Is there a lens I can put on a Canon CMOS to get a look of a full frame sensor? I was told that a 85mm 1.8 gives the same look on a small frame camera, as a full frame image.
Does anyone know if there is a lens that gives a look as coming from a full frame camera? Thank you...

  12.
I was wondering if someone could please explain to me what the difference is between a full frame sensor and a small sensor, or crop sensor. Or perhaps guide me to a website showing some side by side examples of images.
I don't understand if it has something to do with showing more in the finished image, is it a preferred professionals choice to shoot full frame.
I shoot with a Canon 400D, which is a small sensor, so I wonder if I am getting everything I should be with a small frame camera. Of course to upgrade to a full frame Canon is quite expensive, as first in line is the 5D. Any help explaining the difference would be very appreciated. Thanks everyone, Ron

  13.
I need a good Prime lens for my 400D for shooting some good closeup and portraits. I'm not a professional photographer so I can't afford more than a few hundred dollars. I'm stuck between a 50mm 1.4 and a 85mm 1.8. If any professionals or anyone with any knowledge of these two lenses could help with a little advice or opinion, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks all.....

  14.
Can anyone please give me any opinions on shooting with Sigma Lenses. Are they worth their price? I shoot with a Canon 400D, mostly people and some portraits. I am not a professional photographer, but would still like good quality photos when I take them/order them. I just cannot afford Canon with their prices. But I don't want to sacrafice good quality images that I get from my 50mm 1.8 So I was wondering if anyone shoots with a Sigma, and if so, how is the quality of the images, vs. a Canon lens. I just want a good prime lens for now, and would like to also step up to a good wide angle/zoom if I can afford it because I do shoot outdoors sometimes.
I just don't know anyone who personally uses Sigma lenses, but I just can't afford Canons high priced lenses. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.....

  15.
Can someone please give me ideas on what to look for in a good quality photo printing printer. I don't just want a little Kodak printer, but then again, I am not a professional photographer either so I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on one either. I shoot with a Canon 400D, some model portfolio shoots, some portraits, and just family get togethers. I would however like to start printing my own prints instead of paying someone else to do it.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all,
