1. Thanks for your response. The PHQ1 was a recommendation but

after research I determined that wasn't what I needed. I do want a

bullhead. I may give some HDR a try as well. I really like night photos

of lights especially like San Francisco. Doubt I will do panoramic

shots. Who knew this could be so confusing.

  2.
I use a Nikon d90 and am considering a tripod. It would be used mostly for group pictures and setting the timer and night photography for long exposures. I do this mostly for myself and to share with friends and family. I don't need anything too expensive but definitely want something that will be secure and can handle the weight with no worries.
My equipment: lenses 18-105, 50 1.8, 70-300 and tokina 12-24. I do have the sb 700 speed light and would like to be able to use it if necessary.
Budget, no more than $500
It has been suggested that i i look at the Manfrotto 055XPROB or (055XPO3 if I want to increase my budget) and the Induro PHQ1. The legs I am good with but read up on the head and there are good and bad things said about it, so I am not sure.
Any help is greatly apprciated.

  3.
I have a Nikon D90 and am an amateur photographer. I haven't really had the need, or at least haven't thought I had a need until now for a tripod. I am looking for something that is relatively in expensive, as far as tripods are concerned while getting something that is going to be sufficient for my camera that is sturdy. Something for occasional use that is easy to fit in a suitcase that doesn't weigh a ton. We are traveling to the Caribbean and I thought it would be nice to have to get some great landscape shots. I don't need anything too serious because I know it isn't going to get tons of use but would like some recommendations for someone like myself.
Thanks for any input you might have.

  4.
Hi, first off I would like to say that I love reading the forums on here.
I have Photoshop Lightroom 3, Photoshop Elements and Photoshop CS5 and don't know how to use any of them. Lame i know.
I would love to start learning these programs but have no idea how to do it. I am pretty good with computers and using technology. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to learn these products and which one I should start to use first?
I really want to start editing photos, i love the looks of some of the layers I see but have no idea how to go about applying them, creating them, etc.

  5.
Thanks for all the advice, it is greatly appreciated and exactly what I was looking for.
The Barcelona thing has me nervous with all the pickpockets out there, not bringing the camera so much, but you just can't carry anything of value safely and a purse isn't even safe while dining.

  6.
Thanks everyone. I think I will buy the tokina 12-24, and bring my kit lens along with the 50mm (its small enough to not make a difference). I do have a small bag and my husband is always kind enough to cart it around for me. Gotta love him, he always carries it for me. Its a smaller sling pack that is pretty comfortable to carry, even when i carry it myself.
My husband is bringing his laptop, he just can't be away from work for three weeks so will definitely need it to take care of things so I will have that to unload the memory cards on.

  7.
We are taking our first trip to Europe in April/May 2012. We are spending 5 days/4 nights Paris. Then heading to Barcelona on a 12 night Mediterranean cruise. I am giving my itinerary to provide some background for my question.
Cruise Ports: Spain: Barcelona, France: Cannes/Monte Carlo, Italy: Florence, Rome, Naples, Greece: Athens, Santorini, Turkey: Ephesus.
I have a Nikon D90 and a couple point and shoots. The main purpose of the trip is sight seeing, however, i know there are amazing sites there and I would like to be able to take some great pictures of people, architecture and landscape. I am an amateur photographer at best. I really bought the camera to play around with it, and get some good shots of family etc. I have the “kit” lens Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6, Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF, and Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G Nikon AF-S VR Zoom.
My question is, I want to get a wider lens and I am considering the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X or the Tokina AT-X Pro SD 12-24mm F4. I will probably get more all around use out of the 12-24 but the 11-16 will be better in low light (inside churces/night shot of eiffel tower, or not as I don't really know). I don’t want to buy the Nikon 12-24 because is a significant cost for an ameture, in my opinion.
Do you recommend getting one of these lenses? I am leaning towards definitely. If I do, what do you recommend I get and what do you recommend I take, in addition to it, out with me out of the lenses I already have.
I haven’t bought a tripod or an external flash as I haven’t really needed as of yet. I certainly can purchase them though if I need them. Not sure if I do or don’t?

  8.
Don't get me wrong, there have been several times I wish I had a wider lens. For instance, we have a large back yard with a pool and often have large BBQ's especially with family during the summer. I would love a wider lens to fit in "more" than what I currently can fit in with the 18-105 that I currently use for occasions like that. because everyone is spread out I usually have to back far away so its hard to tell who's who, or I cut out some of the scene to get close enough to really see whats going on.
Other instances of use would be beach vacations, which we take a couple of each year. Napa, San Francisco and Tahoe, as we are centrally located around those areas.
I would also like a lens that does well in low light.
I don't know if I should go for a used Nikon 12-24, get a new Tokina 12-24, Tokina 11-16 or the Nikkor 16-85

  9.
Hi-Here's the deal. I am not an amateur at best. I have had my D90 for about a 1 1/2 years and love it. I currently have three lenses.
Nikon 18-105 (lens i bought it with), Nikon 70-300 and Nikon 50/1.8.
We are going to Europe for 3 weeks in the spring. I am wondering if I should get wide angle lens such as the Tokina 11-16 or possibly the 16-28? the 2.8 interests me becuase I know you can't use the flash in some of the churches and most museums. Also, i love taking pictures of things at night, such as the eiffel tower.
Thoughts or suggestions on getting a new lens and what I might want to get? I don't want to break the bank, especially since the photos are for my personal viewing and sharing with friends, but I don't claim to be a pro by any means. I do want good photos and don't mind investing $500-$800 in a new lens if its going to be worth it.
