1.
I have a portrait photography business I started last summer. I have a website that I created through pro photo at net river. (www.erinmathiascreations.com) I am now getting around to being able to post pictures online, and email clients digital files of the images. I am just about to complete my free two week trial of Smug Mug. I have been so busy I haven't had time to fully research and see what else is out there, or fully explore Smug Mug. Before I take the plunge and pay for the service, I just wanted to see if anyone out there had experience with these, or any advice.
Thanks so much!
2.
So I bought a new lense to give me more depth of field. It is great with single subjects. However, when I use the new lens on multiple subjects it seems that usually some of the people are out of focus. Is it just as simple as adjusting the apeture, or should I be adjusing something in the focus. The way I have it set now, is on Dynamic area AF. It gives me one focus point.
Thanks for your help!

I am alot like you. I am starting my own "business" with no formal training. Just a few classes, lots of practice, books, etc. I have moved from friends to friends of friends, and now complete strangers. I have another full time job, knowing that at this point it is not a huge money maker. My hope is in a few years to do part time of each.
I would love any constructive feedback on my site from any of you as well:
4.
HELP! I just recently purchased lightroom 3. I have a great how to book on it, but seem to be missing something.
I edited pictures from a session, and when I exported them and viewed on my computer the image quality went down. When I view the originals they look fine, but when I view the edited exports they are not as good and look bad 8x 10 and bigger. Wondering if it is the pixels that I exported them as? I want to be able to print pictures at a range of sizes. Any tips?
Thanks,
5.
Thanks so much for the feedback! I really appreciate the advice! It sounds like lighting and lenses will be the first step. I have little to no experience with lighting, so I should probably take a class there. For the most part all of my sessions have been outdoor using natural lighting. I like the effect of natural lighting, but I also live in the pacific northwest, so we do get some rainy days and I don't want to have a summer only business. Thanks again!

  6.
Hi,
I am just getting started in my own portrait photography business. I currently own a Nikon 3100, but I feel it is time to upgrade. I want to get sharp images, and a lense that will offer low apeture to get a good background blur. I am willing to pay a bit more, but don't want to get the most expensive one out there either. I shoot mainly kids and families, but have also done senior portraits and maternity. As I mentioned, I am new to this...a career change to follow my passion. So any advice on equipment, or even starting your own photography business is much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
