The original title is STAMMBAUM and I hope this is PEDIGREE or FAMELY TREE in english. In german it also means the favorite tree used by a dog. This male cheetah smells a hot female and run a never ending round to find a way to meed her. This is the end (return) point and he is much slower. The light condition was absolute bad :((( and this was the only chance to get a sharp shot of this elegant cheetah.

First a happy new year to everyone!
Many thanks for the good tips.
This ANIMAL series is up to 5 years old and I stop it in 2010 with more then 500 final images. This one is from 2008 and maybe I would develop it different today.
Most of the time I develop more the one version. I think I chose this version (and the picture too), because it touched me most deeply. I took this picture a few days before the little chimp baby George died. The mother carried the dead baby around for more than a day.
A friend told me about it weeks later and I made this picture as an obituary for George.
In 2012 I will restart this series and take some new pictures for exhibitions. Maybe I also do new versions of some old pictures, but in the past it was my private experience, that my first version is the better one.
Thanks, and sorry for my broken english but Google translation looks funny sometimes.

thanks a lot for your comment…
I take this shot at a press termin. The zoo searched for a name for the newborn rhino and there where a lot of action on this day. So I'm happy to take this picture as the little rhino tries to climb on it's mother…

RED NOSE DAY
in Nature
Posted
It is very hard to make a good portrait shot of a mandrill, because they
need to rise the head a little bit up to the sky, otherwise the eye area is
only a black hole…
