    I Have a totally different reaction ,than the first commenter. First off, I commend you on submission of your first photo to photo.net; welcome to a great site; however, even if it were your hundredth submission, I would still feel positive about it. Great photo. Love the reflection in his eyes, as well as the slight cock of "Boo's" head. The eyes make the pic. This work stands out to my eye. Lighting looks fine on my monitor (calibrated). As critiques are very subjective, all I can say is too each her/his own. Keep in mind that with 12 ratings, 10 of which are positve, only 2 are deviations from most viewers. Keep at it- you have the "eye". Good luck as you embark on your photographic journey.

    Thanks for the comment; to answer the question: Photo taken at an isolated spot on the shore of Lake Erie. There was a light fog, and still lake ice. Shot on Wednesday night 11 PM, as the fog was not too heavy, (although I would like to capture this image with slightly denser fog sometime). The grain comes from my use of TRI-X film, combined with some cropping during enlarging. All I did was capture what I saw, and the mood that I felt it projected.
