fabulous; can't stop looking at it. Love the asymmetry of the window panes palyed off the central position of the bird. Can you give us some comments about your "lightroom" work on this intriguing image?

Interesting. I wonder if the red of the blood is just a little too much in this image. Might it be a little more subtle to have the blood be monochrome as well and therefore be more implied than so vibrant? Just a thought.

wonderful. Speaks a lot to what isn't happening at the moment. Like "where are the chidren" "what happened to them". A certain sadness since they are not present and the water/rainy weather also adds to the sense of melancholy. Well done image that actually invokes an emotional response.

Lovely composition, but water has lost its "water quality" and looks frozen. Perhaps from over sharpening? Wouldn't a softer treatment of the water add to the ambience of the composition? Nice job.

Excellent gesture. Would it be useful though to pull back the sharpening or contrast just a tad? It looks a little hot to me. I am a big dog photo fan and have even written a book on the subject and I think the feel of this pose is fabulous.
  1. Gosh, I don't know, the color balance seems way off to me too. Even the trunk of the tree is green. Also for me, this picture seems so much about saturated color, and that is all I can think about, rather than reacting to the scene. The first thing that hits me is "wow" look at those drenched colors. But I think that you could have that reaction to any other picture with the same saturation effects.

On the plus side I like the vanishing point, but then again the rule of thirds is so adhered to that the picture seems very static to me and looses my interest quickly. I give this feedback in the spirit of constructive criticism. Certainly I appear to be in the minority...

I really like your treatment of this subject. The hair of the dog blowing in the wind is echoed by the grass in the foreground and the trees in the background. I also really get a sense of the weather not only from the light, but also the texture of the clouds and the blurred dog fur. Nice dog portrait.
