Thanks! I'll check them all out.

I'm looking for some recommendations for photo podcasts. Any suggestions? I'm specifically interested in
nature/wildlife/macro techniques and natural history but a list of recommended podcasts covering a variety of subjects
would be great.
The only one I follow right now is The Image Doctors (Nikonians.com). If you have not heard it, they cover a range of
equipment and technique topics (focus on nikon gear) plus normally a feature on digital darkroom. They will also
bring in guests to interview.
Others? Thanks!

I downsized my lens collection, sticking with a few key primes. I rarely used my zooms at any focal lengths between the two ends. I gave up some size, weight
and cost of ownership but lost flexibility in quickly changing situations. I don't recommend this strategy if you shoot events where you are inside the circle of
action and moving your feet may be distracting or difficult.

+1 on workshops (or involvement in a local club) and solid tripod/head. You have a great kit.

I subscribed to Practical Photography out of the UK for a year or so. Good info and ideas but the material rotates
through the year and begins to get repetitive after a time. PhotoLife out of Canada had a good balance of gear and
technique, but their reviews appear to come straight from press releases and the articles are so short they only scratch
the subject's surface. I still like Nature Photographer - interesting photos, technique advice and best of all, some of
their articles contain genuinely useful ethological information about the subjects.
How many magazines are still out there? There must be two dozen on the shelf of my local big box bookstore and that
is probably a sliver of the content out there.

Hi all - Just to wrap up this thread. Helen was very professional and diligent in following through with my case and it was resolved to my satisfaction. My advice if you have had a problem - follow the channels so that the organization can fix the problem. Thanks!

I'm ok with that. I'll post when all outstanding actions are complete. Steve

Wow. I started this thread to get some advice on how to have a mistake fixed after I became concerned that my problem was not a priority to a retailer with whom I've had no history. Thanks to the advice of the early posters (...contact Helen, she'll help you out...), this mistake has been addressed to my satisfaction.
Moreover I have discovered that the customer's interest is Helen's top priority. By extension, the fact that Adorama employs her in that capacity tells me that the customer's interest is also this retailer's priority.
In case anyone cares about my thoughts on the subsequent discussions:
1. If you feel that an employee has behaved in an unethical manner, bring it to the attention of management. If you want to judge the ethics of the organization, watch their response. Otherwise you are basing your judgement of the company on the behaviour of one individual.
2. I take open box to mean an item that was sold, used and returned for reasons other than manufacturing quality or a unit left out for public handling and demonstation purposes over an extensive period of time. I would not consider something opened up for customer review to be considered "open box" and devalued unless there is some level of cosmetic wear, risk or loss of functionality.
Shun, as the OP who has had his original question answered, I suggest that this thread be closed. If someone would like to debate retail theory, please start a new thread.
Thanks to all who suggested that I contact Helen. Solid advice. Steve

Hi all - Just to let you know how things are working. I followed Craig's advice and contacted Helen. Helen got back to me right away (Thanks to Shun for putting in a word to her as well!). I could not be more impressed by the level of service Helen provided. My concerns were immediately addressed and I am confident that the whole matter will be completely resolved in due course.
As Shun said, mistakes happen. What I am interested in is how they get resolved. My issue was set straight quickly and professionally.

Thanks all. Steve

Thanks! I just want to get the lens i ordered without getting dinged for extra expenses. I'll try contacting Helen.

I ordered what was described as an open box MF 200mm micro from Adorama. I received a standard AiS 200mm. After my attempt to contact online customer service received no reply, i called. I did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling that my problem was going to be solved easily. They want me to pay for return shipping and will "work something out" to reimburse me. I live in Canada and got no answer about the customs charges i paid. I asked if i would see the lens i ordered and was told that he would send an email to shipping to see if the lens existed.
Any advice about working with these guys? I'm not sensing that there is any urgency to correct their mistake.
Thanks, Steve
