  1. Just to make a minor correction, the thread in the shutter button is for fitting expensive Leica soft releases into, it is a blind socket and cannot function with a cable release.

It has fooled many reviewers and pretty much all YouTubers.

We've had a fake cable socket, fake wind on lever (M10-d), fake brass rubbing (Lenny Kravitz model), just waiting on the fake Leica camera so the Hipsters can pose with no unnecessary pressure to actually take a photograph.

I own 6 Leicas, but this Q3 shutter button socket is taking the Mickey.

  2. Look, this is getting really silly, I can now delete my photographs but when I edit my account settings and click on 'save contact info' it says saving but never stops saying that and never does actually save - another bug? Also tried changing things in My Account and that won't save either - another bug?
  3. Thank you Glenn for that explanation, that makes sense.

I now cannot work out how to delete my photographs, could you help please, it is not at all obvious to me.....really, I tried looking everywhere, but with a forum search that basically produces 'no results found' for all my searches I am getting nowhere.

I will change my details as suggested after I have answered a few peoples questions, but I have to ask how come in my account settings page it says I live in Australia but on my account page it says I'm American....I really don't want to been seen as from the land of Trump when I'm an Englishman living in Oz.

Thank you for your help in this, I really do feel a lot of sympathy for your position in being the public face of sorting this shambles out a month after rollout, I hope they give you a good holiday when it's all sorted, well you can dream...

  4. What I don't see here is the ability to stop being a registered user (deregister?} and I'm not being funny. I have already joined alternative forums out of frustration and would prefer the owners of this site became aware of the numbers of people leaving rather than people just not bothering to log on anymore. Glenn please don't take this personally but I am serious, can one register but not deregister?
  5. This is also my one of my many big peeves with the new site, all it takes is a 'stay logged in' box to tick, really, why not?

It pisses me off that much that I have joined APUG, Rangefindeforum and Flickr and giving up here, it's just become a pain in the arse to use, not consumer friendly. In fact on my new smartphone logging in is a real pain so I simply don't bother, I only use my laptop for this site.

And yes I have copied this same comment into other threads on the subject, we're hardly the only people pissed off about this.

  7. Light leaks are usually on the side , where the darkslide goes in, a light leak makes the positive lighter, not darker, this top band is underexposed as you say. I don't think it's flare either, sorry, I've used hasselblads for twenty years and never seen this problem. let's hope it never comes back....
  8. Well I tried Fuji, gave it three months alongside my Nikons and then carried on with my D810 and D3S and sold the Fuji, I don't like small cameras, I don't like EVF's and I need my shift lens, need my 14mm and love my 200-500 Nikkor, frankly I did not like the Fuji colours or overall look of the image or handling. Tried hiring Sony A7R2 and thought it handled horribly and felt odd with big pro lenses. Sticking with DSLR's for now.

That answers the OP's question but thank god we are all different and there are cameras to suit everyone.......particularly since I am using my film cameras more and more for personal work, particularly MF and LF.

  9. Have all the moderators been sent on holiday for a while so this shambles can sort itself out? Have not seen any of the usual suspects for days....

In all honesty I'm so glad I joined APUG and Rangefinderforum when the first Photo.net 2.0 was rolled out, really my days here are numbered, it seems change is more important than improvement or for that matter, continuity.

  10. Well after the first photo, net 2.0 I joined APUG and Rangefinderforum, net, I'm still logged into both months later, I am having to log in every day to the 'new' photo.net, surely we're adults here and can be left logged on if we choose not to logout?

This is a real issue and I really won't bother any more if it's left like this, I look at too many forums to log into all of them, sometimes I only look at a forum for a minute, so logging in is a true pain when it is not necessary at all. Might seem silly to you Glenn, but it's a dealbreaker to me.

  11. <p>I love b/w film, wet process all the way to print. I quite like digital colour but never found a printing method I like, so they largely exist on my hard drives, the b/w exists on my walls.<br>

After 35 plus years at it I think I see in mono anyway.<br>

Absolutely allergic to digital mono, even borrowed Leica Monochrom, horrible, no thanks.</p>

  12. <p>To get the best price I would sell the bodies on their own, the lenses separately but with their matching viewfinder The take-up spool is usually the old spool from the previous film, so most photographers have a pile of them, does not bother me whether a camera comes with a spare spool or not. I have 750 transactions on Ebay and this is a good time to sell mamiya 7 gear, you should get good prices right now, I'll be selling some soon myself, but mine is Mamiya 7, not 7II which gets considerably more. Good luck<br>

p.s.- I also recently had to sell my fathers cameras and it can be hard to let go of them, but if you have no use for the gear and a grateful recipient for the funds, it just has to be done.....</p>

  13. <p>By the way, what I actually want is digital Nikon SP with a sensor like the old Fujifilm S5Pro with separate pixels for the highlights, probably with a decent EVF like the new Epson 4mp one due out anytime, or the one from the Leica SL. Well I can dream.</p>
